This, but throwing in Dishonored 2/DotO because Karnaca is in some ways even more impressive than Dunwall. It’s a city that survived the Empire’s whale fuel crisis due to the wind power from Shindaerey Peak, and that has changed the tech, labor and wealth in the Southern Isles.
Like you get this really fascinating look into a city that is booming during an economic downturn of the Empire, and that “gold rush” came with a lot of issues of its own - whole districts buried in dust and destroyed to make room for more windmills.
This kind of stuff really excites the urban planner in me lol. It’s incredible that Arkane developed this entire history for Karnaca that involves real urban/government infrastructural issues and how it impacts the normal citizens of the Empire.
You should play all three games, and then sit with me in hopes we can one day see what Tyvia or Pandyssia looks like.
Yes I am the guy that reads every note and listens to every audio log in immersive sims how could you tell? 😩
Also it’s totally fine if you’re not like that. I really appreciate that the lore has a “get out what you put in” style to it, and if you’re just here for the magical powers, fun combat or whichever reason, then all the power to you. That’s the imsim way, baby.

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
Are you ready for a bit of the old ultra violence?
As I did with RE8, I will be avoiding any major spoilers or later environmental stuff. The game just came out and people should have time to experience it on their own.
Might post funny kills I get tho
Enjoying it a lot. I am questioning the decision to make "Page Up" the drop weapon key. Anyone know how to change it? Doesn't seem to be in keymapping lol
The last time I played this I used the DarkXL engine to play it - which does allow you to play at modern resolutions and refresh rates. Unfortunately, it looks like the site hosting DarkXL is gone.
I'll dig and maybe I'll put up another host. You can play it via dosbox, too.
I should note that DarkXL is an imperfect port and some scripting issues and minor gameplay changes are present, so it's kinda up to you to pick between accuracy vs. modern framerates/widescreen, ect.
Since a few people asking - I recommend Shadow of Chernobyl first with Zone Reclamation Project for bug fixes. If you bounce off that, check out Call of Pripyat. If you like SoC - go through the series via release order (SoC/CS/CoP).
That’s not a criticism towards mods; I love Anomaly and it’s one of the main ways I enjoy the game now. That said, it’s very much built for people who have already played a lot of stalker, and it can be immensely overwhelming for newcomers because of that.
If you’ve played some stalker already and you *do* want a kind of overwhelming and brutal Zone experience, then Anomaly and such may be worth checking out then. You should probably have at least a taste of the base games to understand why Anomaly changes some stuff tho.
