I broke down tonight. I broke down because our team lost 2 special patients to this damn virus. 2 fully vaccinated lung transplant patients who did everything right and still it wasn't enough.

And all over Twitter & Facebook & the news, I see selfish folks without an ounce of compassion for their fellow humans, spewing lies and misinformation that are going to lead to even more preventable deaths. #COVIDSucks

Wow! You all are amazing! I am truly blown away by all of the comments of support for me, my team & our patients. Waking up this morning & realizing we are not alone in this fight has helped our team's healing more than you know.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Wow! The kids are going to be alright!! 🤩🤩🤩 I had an amazing time with @GranbyGators 5th graders this am.

We discussed #COVID, #vaccines, #Ebola, #Influenza, #WestNileVirus, #LungTransplantation, and becoming a physician-scientist.

COVID/vaccines
- When will vaccines for kids be available?
- Do kids get any say in participating in clinical trials?
- How long do you think this pandemic will last?
- If kids get vaccinated, will we still have to wear masks in school?
- Where did COVID come from?

Lung/Solid Organ Transplantation
- How do you replace the heart or lungs? Our bodies will die if you take out the heart or lungs.
- Can you transplant a brain?
- How do you know if the donor lungs are good (and not crusty)?
- The lungs have to be the right size, don't they?
