Thread on report submitted by Retd Justice AK Rajan headed committee to Tamil Nadu govt on NEET:

Pre- NEET and Post-NEET admission data comparison and what it means:

1. Based on medium of education in Tamil Nadu 👇
2. Based on board of education, medium of instruction and type of management:
3. Based on geographical location (rural/ urban):
4. Based on First Generation Graduates and Non First Generation Graduates:
5. Based on annual income of parents :
6. Based on social groups:
7. Based on Repeaters vs First Timers:
"NEET seems to have clearly undermined the diverse societal representation in
MBBS and higher medical studies, favouring mainly the affordable and affluent segment of the
society while equally thwarting the dream of pursuing medical education by underprivileged
social groups."
Conclusion of the committee:

"If NEET continues for a few more years, the Health care system of Tamil Nadu will be very badly affected."
Recommendations made by the committee to TN govt:

Thread on White Paper released by Tamil Nadu finance minister P Thiagarajan:

- Revenue deficit of TN has been deteriorating for the last 8 years. Such a long term trend has affected the development investments.

Revenue deficit : 3.16 as % of GSDP for FY 2020-21.
Fiscal deficit of the state has been primarily increasing due to increase in govt borrowing.

Fiscal deficit is 4.43 as % of GSDP.

The public debt is Rs 2,63,976 per family in TN.

Public debt as % of GSDP is 26.69%, which is above the allowed limit of 25%.
Outstanding debt of GoTN has been metioned as Rs 4,85,503 crores until now. However, if we consider "other means" of financing the fiscal deficit the real debt is Rs 5,24,574 crores.
