@WenteJesse Hey, just wondering what part of the Maritimes that you are from that makes you an authority on Eastern Metis? Where is your family from?
Cause I can tell you, mine has been here in South West Nova Scotia since early 1600s , my family has 4 Peace and Friendship signatories, there is nothing made up about that!!
archives.novascotia.ca/mikmaq/archive… one of my uncles, signatory to the 1761 Peace and Friendship Treaty, my family has never been registered under the Indian Act.
My great great grandfather was 4 generations from both Mius brothers who were signatories he was born before confederation and before the time that the feds told who were Indigenous.!
My 7th grade grandfather, Joseph Mius, brother to both Francis and Mathieu, fought alongside the Mi'kmaw as a rebel in the Queen Ann's War, you had better sort your sources out better than Darryl Leroux.
* grade = great
By saying no Metis in the Atlantic provinces, guess you also weren't aware of the Metis land claims in the 70s that were approved of by UNSI.?
Or that the Union of Nova Scktia Indians had Metis in their bylaws and constitution in the 70s, I have the newspaper articles that show where the chiefs overthrew an elected board, and changed the constitution to throw Metis out and make them no longer "Indian."
Guess you couldn't take the political heat and threw in with Darryl and crowd, ughhh
sangmele.net/home/a-copy-of… my other uncle, Mathieu Mius , Joseph Mius other brother , apparently according to you, all made up bullshit from your book.
I will wait for your response, since you're taking the stance that I and my family don't exist, my grandmother and GGrandmother Evangeline Mius, identified with their Indigenous heritage and definitely did not ask Darryl fucking Leroux for permission to do so!!
Maybe do some reading, escholarship.mcgill.ca/downloads/s178… Francis Mius was Chief of La Have when he signed that treaty.
My family, Mius and Doucett, I also have other Indigenous family as well.
From the annapolis heritage society, my aunt married into the Glode family, Rene signed the ratified 1726 Treaty as well.
@jessewente few questions would like to pick a bone with you about...
@jessewente that sure didn't take long, another page out of Darryl's book hey !! Don't have to look like an uneducated fool on Eastern Metis if you just listen to your own echo chambers huh?
Constitutional changes - Micmac News 1980 - 06 - Metis is now not an Indian, hmm , which must have meant that before they were an Indian before those chiefs over threw an elected board and changed the constitution on their own? Guess what, that doesn't erase our history though !
10 million given towards research non status and metis - Union of Nova Scotia Indians - Micmac News 1980 01. -- That is whole lot of moola for no Metis, 🙄

@TorontoStar Ah Mr Sinclair .. @Niigaanwewidam .. How does that work when the nations your family belonged to for generations refuses to claim you back and says you never existed? When you are a descendent of the Peace and Friendship Treaties ? When you can prove your indigenous
but nations who used to claim ie #EasternMetis, now say such relations never existed? When they are literally in the RCAP reports? twitter.com/i/events/98959…

That is actually incorrect information still, MNC is a self-identified, self proclaimed nation ..
There are 2 national organizations in Canada that represent Metis peoples, both have an accord with the Canadian Government, both have 2 very separate definitions, CAP definition runs along with the NCC definition, NCC is who had Metis repatriated into the constitution.
