🚨🚨🚨 ATTENTION! The ECI has proposed linking voter ID cards with Aadhaar.
This move stands to fundamentally change the Indian Democracy, leading to:
⚠mass disenfranchisement,
⚠increased voter fraud
⚠violation the right to privacy.
Sign this petition to call on the Election Comission of India and the Ministry of Law and Justice to halt their unconstitutional plans! #RethinkAadhaar@no2uid 2/2
UPDATE: We received an RTI response from the Election Commission of India today! Take a look and engage with us on this important issue. We are firmly against this unconstitutional use of #Aadhaar 👁🗨 #RethinkAadhaar@no2uid
Periodic compliance reports (as mandated by the #ITRules) are an important element for understanding how social media corporations regulate content, but misses an important element — disclosure of content removal requests made by the government are not mandatory! 2/n
While it is important for SSMIs to be transparent and accountable with content moderation, these values are equally important when it comes to government-mandated content removal orders!
For free speech to truly flourish online, the government cannot keep regulating it. 3/n
The TRAI has released its final recommendations on improving India's broadband connectivity and we hope to see them being in operation soon! #AccessToInternet#4GForAll
Earlier, the minimum download speed for broadband was only 512 kbps — insignificant for true access to services we require today. Today, it's 2 mbps.
Although India still doesn’t have a minimum upload speed, we’re finally on the path to progress. #AccessToInternet#4GForAll 2/n
In 2020, @TRAI released a Consultation Paper around issues of broadband speed & connectivity.
Our comments focused on:
🕸 Including a higher minimum download speed & a minimum upload speed.
🕸 Developing digital infrastructure in a dynamic public-private partnership model. 3/n

Yesterday, IFF assisted @tmkrishna's hearing before the Madras HC, in one of the few petitions challenging Part II of IT Rules (on social media). Madras HC found ‘substantial basis’ in assertion that the application of IT Rules to intermediaries may violate Article 19(1)(a). 2/n
Senior Advocate Rajshekhar Rao argued on behalf of Mr @tmkrishna. After hearing Mr Rao’s submissions on Part II, the Madras HC issued an order stating that “if there is any action taken in terms of Rules 3 and 7, it will abide by the result of the petition.” 3/n
Oftentimes when people’s data is breached, it’s probably because they haven’t implemented the basic digital hygiene that goes a long way in protecting your data.
There are some simple steps you can (and should!) take to up your #DigitalSecurity game. We might sound like a broken record, but:
🕸 Set up 2 Factor Authentication
🕸 Create strong passwords
🕸 Use a password manager
🕸 Stay alert for phishing scams!
More details in 🧵 👇🏽 2/n
First, on passwords:
✅ Use unique passwords for each account
❌ Don’t use: DOB, partner/parent’s names or any info easily available in the public domain.
✅ Aim for at least 15 characters & a mix of letters, numbers + symbols.
✅ Use passphrases: they are harder to crack. 3/n
