"Today, these crunchy anti-vaxxers are coalescing into a loose political group that is targeting COVID health measures and restrictions as indicative of governmental overreach and medical tyranny. They’re also, predictably, falling down far-right rabbit holes.
"Enid Futterman, a local journalist and Bernie Sanders supporter...told me she finds the idea that COVID is caused by 5G cellphone towers more believable than person-to-person transmission. “I’ve read both sides, and that’s what makes sense,” Futterman said.”
"I’ve cut off contact with several other people from the area, with whom I once spoke at least semi-regularly, because of their views on vaccines. Other people I grew up with have drifted to the far-right, with anti-vax rhetoric a common thread to their ravings."

I think the debt ceiling is dumb.

Clearly the GOP is playing politics about it

But ignoring the culpability from Dems is also ludicrous when they control Congress and the White House. thehill.com/opinion/financ…
"It is true that both parties are responsible for our past decades of $21 trillion in debt. But Democrats want to raise debt spending by some $7 trillion this year without a single Republican vote. They own it, and they have to clean up their own financial mess.""
"Isn't it rich that the only time Democrats want bipartisanship and "unity" with the GOP is when they want everyone to hold hands and raise the debt ceiling?"

So, although disease is improving in the South, there is a surge well under way in the North.

Here is Maine...Vermont...and New York.

Note that ME and VT (like FL, TX) have positive cases at higher rate than last year.

New York is at a lower rate, but has a surge starting. ImageImageImage
Deaths in all three states are low so far. Hopefully this is sustained, as all three have among the highest vax rates in the country.

For example see CT. They are still having low disease rates...surge hasn't hit them. Is it timing, or is it because of vaccination rates? Image
Ohio is mid range in vax rates...has experienced a surge. And deaths are increasing still. Image

This got me thinking...how are the best countries doing?

Malta right now is the highest in the world, with 83% fully vaccinated (!!!).

And...?
This is Malta.

Note that they too had a surge this summer. A fairly significant one, relatively speaking.
Fortunately, Malta has never had huge numbers of deaths. So whether there is some statistical significance in the death rate is probably impossible to calculate.

So COVID update.

This is a map of county wide hospitalizations. If you have paid attention the last few weeks, this map is getting darker, and the darkness is moving north across the board.
Another variation that maps 'danger'...again, the purple colors are worrisome. See PA, OH, IN, IL, NoCA, OR...its moving north.
This shows county increase in hospitalizations. This is a little skewed because some of the counties are so small...but you get the idea.

She is an expert?

I mean...in that short span, she got at least three legal issues wrong.
Again, from @jadler1969...would be nice if TV 'experts' at least read the counterpoint before making such grand claims.

Biden, Walensky, etc have completely, utterly failed on their vaccine messaging.

First, it was get vaxxed...it will end the pandemic!
Then, it was "JNJ might cause a rare side effect...lets pull it off the market."
Then, they went back to masks for some reason.
Now, it appears to be "vaccines sort of work, but sort of don't." That has been their message all summer. And this mandate basically reinforces the idea that vaccines...aren't going to end the pandemic.

They are a complete utter mess.
And 'whatabout Trump' isn't good enough.

These clowns were elected to be BETTER THAN TRUMP.

And they can't even jump over that lowest of low bars.
