The reason you think having a target of zero COVID-19 is crazy… is because they told you so.
It’s actually normal to try to keep serious diseases under control, and we have never felt threatened by local elimination plans before.
Lockdowns are the thing people really suffer in. There are other ways to control disease transmission though, but even those are being demonised… and I have no idea why.
Getting fresh air, cleaning the air with HEPA, wearing a better mask, getting vaccinated… all great ways to live with a lower risk of getting an illness which can be very nasty.
Will it always be zero? Unlikely. Does that mean we should give up and let everyone get infected..? I hope not.
We should do what we can to get better outcomes. Lower the exposure of individuals and population. Better vaccines and therapeutics will probably come.

I have over a hundred articles in my bookmarks of all of the different types of organ damage COVID-19 can do. Most of them are evidence of what happens after either mild or moderate disease.
I think we have gone past the precautionary principle now. Avoid COVID if you can.
Even if you have had COVID-19 already, I would advise trying to avoid Re-infections.
It’s quite simply not good for you.
For everyone asking for me to share the articles… I will organise them better in near future and share a link. Also I tend to RT them from time to time… so keep an eye out.
If you are feeling sad/angry about NSW abandoning disease control… you are not alone. We will get back to disease control one day, meanwhile there are things you can do to keep yourself and your loved ones safer.
@shaz_harro There is going to be a honeymoon period as the high vaccination rate, together with ongoing mask use and school closures take effect.
A sense of confidence will return and further opening up. Preparations for Christmas will begin.
@shaz_harro Case numbers will increase slowly until the opening up occurs. For a short while even after restrictions are loosened all will seem well… and then the slow ramp of cases will begin again.
@shaz_harro If schools go back without adequate multi-layered mitigations, and it seems likely an attempt will be made to do this, children’s cases will skyrocket.
If you can’t save yourself from the first infection, you may avoid a second or third. If you can’t save this generation, you may save future ones from this scourge. #TargetingZero🦠mississippifreepress.org/15715/in-missi…
