you will have to pry wearing a backpack literally everywhere i go from my cold, dead, gender nonconforming hands
gonna write an article abt how wearing a backpack is a form anti-patriarchal reclamation pioneered by lesbian feminists
this is a threat. i could do this. dont make me.
ok i love that i didnt see this on my tl until directly AFTER i made this tweet. i hadnt seen any recent discourse i was just thinking about the absolute vitality of my backpack.
currently thinking: carseat headrest, the decembrists, sufjan, technically you might say of montreal but i hardly think that counts. trying to think of who else.
this racist comic re: “CRT” is being QT’d around & i want to point out:
pay attention to the central role of the family in it. the kid is expected to identify with the family & not find another, more liberatory ID. white supremacy & capitalism are reproduced through the family.
it was such a clarifying moment to learn that the second half of this quote by thatcher (may her name be blotted out) about there being no such thing as society is that there’s individuals *and families*
the family is a fundamental institution for undermining collectivity
if finding out the horror and crimes of their family ancestry is genuinely so isolating for this child, then another option is to find a new identification. to recognize that they also are and can be part of a legacy of resistance, speaking out, abolition work, and more.
don't say "Judeo-Christian" when you're trying to say "white"
the concept of "Judeo-Christian" is less than two centuries old, and originally invented by antisemites. has it (later) been self-consciously adopted by some christians and some jews? yes, primarily in america, primarily as part of assimilating white jews into whiteness.
the vast majority of things which are described as "Judeo-Christian" have little to do with being rooted in the diversity of jewish (or even christian!) historical practice and everything to do with universalizing a white, western perspective.
starting a new thread for ki🅱️🅱️en updates. these are our two rescues that we trapped ourselves out behind our house, ripley and newt. we love them very much, and it's so exciting to finally be able to start a life with them around :)
here's one from last night. it's so, so nice to finally be able to cuddle them 💙 it's so nice finding out that despite all we've put them through during treatment, and all the isolation, they really do love us.
we put them back in their enclosure for the night, and when i opened it to let them out in the morning, both of them trotted up to me. ripley started rubbing all along my leg, and even our skittish little noodle came up and brushed against my hand. they're getting more comfy :)
