๐ŸŒค๏ธ #SEO - Search Volume โ‰  Priority โ›…๏ธ

๐Ÿ”ธ In my experience, search volume should not be used as a top priority metric to decide if you should write the content or not on a topic.

Why?

A thread. ๐Ÿงต

(The represented search volume data is from a keyword tool)

(1/8)
For example, your content's main entity is 'bat'.

'Bat' has a monthly search volume of ~ 1,220,000.

But, 'bat' can have different meanings, like:
๐Ÿ”น ๐Ÿฆ‡ (bat animal)
๐Ÿ”น ๐Ÿ (cricket bat)

And your topic is 'which bat is best for cricket'.

(2/8)
Now, the monthly search volume for 'cricket bat' is ~ 450,000.

๐Ÿ”น Whereas, the monthly search volume for 'which bat is best for cricket' is ~ 1,600.

๐Ÿ’ก So, how to NOT look at this data?

๐Ÿ”ธ You can't say YES to the content based on the search volume of 'bat'. Because...

(3/8)
๐Ÿ”ธ that search volume is not just for your product, it's for everything that means 'bat'.

๐Ÿ”ธ You can't say YES to the content based on the search volume of 'cricket bat'. Becoz that search volume is about everything related to a cricket bat, not just about which is best.

(4/8)
๐Ÿ”ธ The search volume for your topic is less, but that doesn't mean it should be not be created.

๐Ÿ’ก The thing that matters is 'INTENT'.

๐Ÿ”ธ If your audience is looking to buy a bat, they will look for the best one. And for that, they need to know which bat is the best.

(5/8)
๐Ÿ”ธ Yout topic is LOW on search volume, but HIGH on search intent.

๐Ÿ”ธ Remember, conversions are driven by 'intent' not 'search volume'.

๐Ÿ”ธ So, if a topic makes sense for your audience, it will make for your business as well.

(6/8)
๐Ÿ’ก We (The People) Are NOT Same

๐Ÿ”ธ We search same thing, differently

๐Ÿ”ธ If a tool says 'X' is searched 100 times. That doesn't mean it was searched for 100 times only

๐Ÿ”ธ People search the same thing in multiple ways, like 'what is X', 'X meaning', 'definition of X', etc

(7/8)
๐Ÿ”ธ Here, search volume is different for all variations, but the intent is the same.

๐Ÿ”† Use search volume to get an idea about what terms might be popular to use but don't make it a decision-maker to choose topics for content writing.

๐Ÿ™ Thanks for sticking to the end. ๐Ÿ˜€

๐Ÿ”น Brand new website with new domain
๐Ÿ”น 3.5 months old

๐Ÿงต A thread on the things we did which led to this growth.
๐ŸŽฏ Target Audience ๐ŸŽฏ

๐Ÿ”ธ Conducted research on the target audience

๐Ÿ”น No, it was not about what they eat, wear, or how much they earn or spend.
๐Ÿ”น It was focused around what they search and what they are looking for. And why?
๐Ÿ“„ Content Strategy ๐Ÿ“„

๐Ÿ”ธ Created content strategy

๐Ÿ”น No, it was not about targeting 'High Search Volume' keywords.
๐Ÿ”น The focus was on user's search needs, even though if it had low search volume.

Tip: SV is just a metric for a KW, actual users search in many different ways.
