@WHO is watching strains like Mu with concern.

@ScottMorrisonMP and @GladysB are opening international borders pre-Christmas with ineffective 7 day quarantine.

Should be interesting…

news.un.org/en/story/2021/…
Last time… last time I did say… make sure you have proper quarantine; delta isn’t a joke. You all didn’t listen & then you had to phone every friend for vaccines.

I’m saying it again. Don’t skimp on quarantine. If you’re going to do it, do it properly.
Half-baked, keep the voters happy, quarantine for too short a period, no ability to live track variants quarantine theatre is not going to work.

It will get massively stuffed up again at some point… probably soon.
The COVID-19 pandemic is so complex and fast moving that the only way to be sure of what you are importing, is to check. Even AI would be hard pressed to keep up, but that would be a second choice. Otherwise it’s a blind welcome to everything.
You think that because delta tends to present earlier, you can get away with shorter quarantine periods, but actually some vaccine resistant strains may not be as transmissible as delta. They may take longer to present.
As the world becomes more highly vaccinated, there may be trade offs between transmission and immune escape.

14 days should be the quarantine period with testing even beyond that.
Highly recommend stool sample to be tested and if positive, sequenced. Many people may carry vaccine resistant strains for a very long time.

What can I say to make the world wake up to the danger of COVID-19?

What can I say to help people to understand that infecting kids is not OK?
Dementia
Left bodies
Parkinson’s like movement disorders.
Memory problems with loss similar to lead poisoning.
Switching on the immune system in bad ways so it harms you (autoimmune disorders).
->
Attacking T cells and any CD45 expressing cell making future immunity a problem. (T cells that might have protected from cancer and other infections.)
Damaging the heart.
Damaging the blood vessels.

This is to allow return to work for parents.

If your child's classroom does not have a CO2 monitor to prove ventilation is adequate, or an adequately sized HEPA filter to ensure clean air, your child is not in a safe classroom.

You've been warned.
If there is one child in your class that is unmasked, and that child gets infected, all others, including teachers, are at increased risk of high dose inoculation. Your child's mask may not be enough to protect them.

It's every person for themselves now.
What a spectacular mess. Unprepared. Unsafe. Financial support withdrawal means kids will be forced into unsafe classrooms in NSW. The youngest cohort unvaccinated.

I'm disgusted.

I have over a hundred articles in my bookmarks of all of the different types of organ damage COVID-19 can do. Most of them are evidence of what happens after either mild or moderate disease.

I think we have gone past the precautionary principle now. Avoid COVID if you can.
Even if you have had COVID-19 already, I would advise trying to avoid Re-infections.

It’s quite simply not good for you.
For everyone asking for me to share the articles… I will organise them better in near future and share a link. Also I tend to RT them from time to time… so keep an eye out.

Next few weeks are going to be a bit crazy busy…

The reason you think having a target of zero COVID-19 is crazy… is because they told you so.

It’s actually normal to try to keep serious diseases under control, and we have never felt threatened by local elimination plans before.
Lockdowns are the thing people really suffer in. There are other ways to control disease transmission though, but even those are being demonised… and I have no idea why.
Getting fresh air, cleaning the air with HEPA, wearing a better mask, getting vaccinated… all great ways to live with a lower risk of getting an illness which can be very nasty.

Recognition that ventilation is important for disease control because #COVIDisAirborne.

nsw.gov.au/covid-19/getti…
How many essential workplaces have been audited for compliance for adequate ventilation?

How many essential workers know they should be wearing a respirator?

#COVIDisAirborne
Why was the NSW lockdown allowed to fail in this way if airborne disease transmission has been acknowledged for to long?

If you are feeling sad/angry about NSW abandoning disease control… you are not alone. We will get back to disease control one day, meanwhile there are things you can do to keep yourself and your loved ones safer.

Follow @RealOzSAGE for advice.
Wear the best mask/respirator you can, and have no stubble/beard where the mask seals against the face.

Use double masking, mask fit devices, or knot and tuck to close any gaps around the edge.
Wear warm/cool clothing as appropriate and ventilate your workspaces as much as possible.
