Patterns of policy convergence and divergence look very different on socio-economic and other issues, as shown by this summary of emblematic positions I have taken from party manifestos.

While the FDP's economic and social policy is closer to the CDU, the party shares multiple stances with the Greens (and SPD) in other matters.

Climate is currently seen as the most important problem by a majority of Germans. Negociations are likely to be difficult in this area: Greens and FDP advocate very difficult policies to reach the objective of lower CO2 emissions.
