1./ Do you need a little pick-up after so many politicians struggled to master basic biology? Here's a behind the scenes look at the preparations for OUR conference. Yes, us: the only LGB group in Britain that focuses solely on LGB people. For a start, here's our tiny venue.👇
2./ The QEII Centre is modern architecture at its best. Powell and Moya's building is surprisingly subtle, with all those variations in the facade. Inside though the space is vast. Here's us plotting banners and decor for the day and trying not to be distracted by the views. 👇
3./ Later in the day we took a quick 20 min walk to visit the Churchill Estate in Pimlico, which made Powell and Mayo's name in 1947. They designed it in their early 20s. It was dubbed 'Humane Modernism', partly because they retained the Victorian pub. Good move boys.👇
4./ Drinks at the conference will be served in the HUGE hall where 400 (and counting) ticket holders can chat, buy merch, & get books signed by @bindelj, @HJoyceGender and @simonjedge before heading back for the speakers. Here's us putting finishing touches to the stage design.👇
5./ In each of our main sessions there will be 4 fantastic speakers on subjects as varied as policing, the NHS's erasure of gays and how we advance LGB human rights globally. Radical uh? Here's that Kate Harris woman working out views from the stage.👇
6./ It's going to be an amazing event with 4 MPs from 3 different parties, surprise guests and experts in everything from psychiatry to data collection. You have to admit the views do rather add to the glamour. Here's a little known Abbey across the road. Scrubs up nicely. 👇
7./ If you pop across you can see above the Great Western Door the Modern Martyrs who include Martin Luther King, Oscar Romero and Archbishop Janani Luwum (3rd from left) killed by Idi Amin. Some argue his murder allowed US right wing, religious homophobes to flood Uganda.👇
8./ The day will be packed but, who knows, at lunchtime before our fantastic keynote speaker @BluskyeAllison 👏👏👏 you might have time for a stroll around the fabulous St James's Park or Horse Guards Parade (which hasn't changed much since Canaletto painted it in 1749).👇
9./ Inside the venue there's wonderful art too. The Scottish artist Eduardo Paolozzi was inspired to create this wooden behemoth by 'On This Island' by gay composer Benjamin Britten who was himself inspired by a collection of poetry of the same name by gay poet WH Auden.👇
10./ When asked at a press conference whether the lack of female figures in his art meant he was gay, Paolozzi replied, "I don't think so".😂 Everyone is welcome to our conference, lesbians, bisexuals, straight or trans and "I don't think so"s. Just bring a curious mind.
11./ Paolozzi adored science. So it's a fitting happenstance that @ALLIANCELGB will be mining the depths of science (yes even biology!!) and separating fact from fiction in the shadow of his great woodblock that was inspired by two gay artists. So are you coming yet?
12./ Of course we'll talk about gender identity a bit (it's a dogma that's a danger to LGB people) but we hope the conference will also be an opportunity to revive discussion about the subjects we all adore- art, history, music, culture, books and ideas- in a beautiful setting
13./ Our venue is slap bang in the centre of London's many layered history. The first annual conference by a moderate LGB group dedicated to the protection of children and women's hard won rights is a new twist in that history. Buy a ticket and you too can say, "I was there".
14./ As you can imagine the venue costs a pretty penny, so if you can't make it do feel free to donate. Unlike some groups we've no corporate sponsors, and no government money. We're funded entirely by YOU...our loyal supporters. Tickets here: 👉lgballiance.org.uk/conference/

Why does @BBC Style Guide erase homosexuality?

“Homosexual means people of either sex who are attracted to people of their own gender" is a belief promoted by gender identity campaigners.

People with same-sex sexual orientation object strongly to being redefined.
#SexNotGender
“Homosexual” means sexually attracted to people of one’s own sex.

Please be aware that referring to (subjective) “gender” instead of (objective) sex makes homosexuality meaningless. We are LGB people. Our sexual orientation is based on #SexNotGender.
The @bbc Style Guide also says: “Bisexual is an adjective to describe someone who is romantically and/or sexually attracted to more than one gender."
“More than one gender?” Another redefinition by gender identity groups.
What is going on here, @bbc?

Tokyo 2020 finished at the weekend. And what an Olympic triumph it was for openly LGB athletes: over 50 medals! Here’s just a few of their notable achievements:
Gold winning USA women’s basketball team, with FIVE!! out lesbian team members, including Sue Bird, fiancée of the soccer star Megan Rapinoe. Pictured here with teammate Diana Taurus. 👏👏
Britain went wild for Tom Daley who won gold in the synchronized 10-meter platform: “I feel incredibly proud to say that I am a gay man and also an Olympic champion.” Imagine the impact of those words on young gay men with sporting dreams. 👏👏

@ForwomenScot @iancollinsuk @talkRADIO Thank you. We issued the following rebuttal to @TalkRadio of India Willoughby’s smears and insinuations:
@ForwomenScot @iancollinsuk @talkRADIO “LGB Alliance has no links whatsoever to the Religious Right in the United States or their cynical attempts to attack trans rights as part of a long-term strategy to undermine LGBT rights.”/1of5
@ForwomenScot @iancollinsuk @talkRADIO “LGB Alliance supports trans rights as protected by law. What we oppose is gender self-ID. We strongly oppose gay conversion therapy.”/2of5

BBC routinely broadcasts homophobic slurs on its Arabic service. Here is the statement that LGB Alliance contributed to this news story:/1of4 dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9…
“It’s shocking the BBC is beaming such homophobic content to Arabic viewers. 69 countries criminalize homosexuality and many of them speak Arabic. Some, like Saudi Arabia, impose the death penalty.”/2of4
“We’ve asked to meet the Director General several times to express our concern about the BBC’s homophobic output. He refuses to meet us. But even we hadn’t imagined the BBC could sink as low as this.”/3of4

1./ A HERO FROM UGANDA.
The struggle for equality for LGB people in Uganda has had many heroes but none perhaps greater than David Kato. It was his murder in 2011 that inspired @RogerRossWill to make his brilliant documentary 'God Loves Uganda' 👇
2./ In interviews about the film, Williams explained Kato had told him there was "an untold story of the damage American fundamentalist evangelicals are doing in Uganda and their aggressive effort to harvest young, unclaimed souls... " tfiny.org/blog/detail/ro…
3./ Kato had warned him evangelicals had come to Uganda "to preach a gospel of love intertwined with a gospel of intolerance." A founder of the country's gay rights movement Kato spoke at a UN human rights conference in Kampala in 2009. A US diplomat later described the reaction.

If you do nothing else today, please read this by Peter Daly, who represented @MForstater in her successful appeal:
“A significant portion of lesbian, gay or bisexual people are very clear that they are same-sex (and not same-gender) attracted."/1of11
linkedin.com/pulse/forstate…
"For many, their sexual orientation is therefore incompatible with a belief in Gender Theory. Being Gender Critical is therefore a fundamental aspect of their sexual orientation, and therefore their identity."/2of11
"An insistence on the primacy of same gender-attraction can lead, for example, to lesbians being accused of transphobia by stating that they are not sexually attracted to males."/3of11
