Facebook was down.
Instagram was down.

What does this mean for you and your brands?

And how to prepare for the next time it happens?

\Thread
If you spend time online, you'd know FB and IG were down for over 8 hours.

Nobody could post.
Nobody could see new updates.

And productivity and Twitter traffic certainly went up.
Downtime is not uncommon.

What's uncommon is how long it took for the Facebook team to mitigate the issue.
See, if your business relies on Facebook and Instagram, today was certainly a scary day.

I can imagine how many time your tried refreshing your feed without success.

Or sending DMs without getting any replies.

Or tried to connect with your fans but your messages weren't posted
If today wasn't a wake-up call to diversify, I don't know how to persuade you to stop relying on one single platform.

So how do you diversify?
The SAFE BET is...

Starting an email newsletter.

Begin to collect emails and grow your email list.

THIS IS A MUST.

Why?

The reality is that you don't own any of the social media accounts you run.

You can be banned at any time with no explanation.

The company might go bankrupt and close.

Or your account can get hacked.

Or the social app can go down – like it did today.
But NOBODY can take your email list away from you.

For ONE big reason.

You can always download a backup of all the emails.

And you can upload this backup to other email marketing services.
So really.

Start a newsletter today.

I recommend you get ConvertKit.

Here's my aff link:
rosa.do/convertkit

They're free for up to 1000 subscribers.
Another thing you can do to diversify is repurposing your content to grow on other social media account.

Your IG captions can be turned into emails.

Your Reels can become Tiktoks.

Your Facebook videos and lives can be uploaded to Youtube.
Develop the habit of repurposing your content.

Hire an Agency to do that for you.

You'll get charged $2-$5K/mo to get it sorted out.

Don't sleep on this.
Finally, start an email list.

Yes, I'm repeating myself.

But the email list is the ultimate marketing weapon.

Great to sell stuff.

And simple to automate.

Getting your freelance client can be painful.

So here's how to get your FIRST paid gig on easy mode:

Thread:
First, having zero clients means you don't have a business

Do this instead.
Reach out to:

→ Your parents
→ Family members
→ Friends
→ Acquaintances
→ Everyone on your contact list

Let them know you started a business.

\thread
Writing can be messy.

And some habits make it even messier.

These habits:
• silently kill your motivation
• distract you from your goals
• make writing painful

Break free of these 6 toxic habits to enjoy your writing routine.
1. Editing while writing

Never edit while you're writing.

Follow this rule:
Write with your heart, edit with your mind.

While writing the first draft,
• Ignore the typos
• Forget about the syntax
• Keep the nonsensical ideas

Complete the crappy first draft.

Then edit it.

The first time I made $100K selling digital products back in 2019, I knew I was unto something.

Here are 7 Invaluable Lessons From Making My First $100K With Digital Products (Plus a bonus one).

\ thread
1. Marketing is everything

Promotion is just as important as the product.

Creating a product doesn't make you a single cent.

Marketing and self-promotion do.

Create a high-quality digital product.

And market the hell out of it.
Overwhelm the algorithm by promoting it like crazy.

Most people avoid it because they're scared others will call them sellouts.

These people are NGMI.

You, on the other hand, understand that this is how the game is played.

Promote. Promote. Promote.

A couple of days ago, I told one of my students,

"Help me grow my Instagram page"

The student said, "I can't because we have similar themes in our account and I would lose sales"

It crushed my heart.

I had been giving this person free consult calls for nearly a year.
My student built a super business using my advice.

And even gained some followers on Twitter because of my retweets.

It's amazing how self-interest and money supersede friendship.
It's not that I expected this person to help me.

It's the reason why.

Basically, "a couple of bucks comes before you, Jose" lolololol

Despite the fact, I had shared this person's work on my timeline and my emails.
