THREAD: In light of this blockbuster interview, our source in the affirmative parents' FB group today sent us a thread from 2020, started by a parent worried about her 10-year-old "AMAB's" future sex life. 1/n

"I've heard anecdotally amab kids that take blockers at Tanner 2 & then hormones may be unable to achieve orgasm, and have yet to see any evidence to the contrary. Already, at age 10, they [won't have] genetic children. It breaks my heart they may have to lose anything else." 2/n

Others (including an "AMAB" parent) note there is no research on this--only anecdotes. "Your mileage may vary...some have plenty of function while others don't."

Dr. Marci Bowers, Jazz's surgeon, is mentioned. 3/n

Some say their AMABs need to "work on" or "practice" achieving orgasm, but (despite parental cajoling?)..."My child refused to try" ..."My daughter is only 15 & has no interest in that right now. She's definitely not asexual just says she isn't ready for that yet." 4/n

Parent whose "AMAB" has already had surgery at 16 thinks it's "not worth it" to worry what their child's life may be like in 10 years. Two others chime in: one kid is nonbinary & just wants a "cosmetic" change, the other isn't dysphoric but "just knew she wanted a vagina." 5/n

Parent of a 14 year old who's been on blockers/estrogen patches "for a number of years" brings up the inevitable suicide card. "I wouldn't change a thing." 6/n

Another criticizes original poster for her "hangup" about her kid's future sex life. "There are millions of cis women out there who never experienced an orgasm." OP pushes back, doesn't want to "chemically castrate" her child."

Original poster valiantly pushes back, concerned that she has found NO clear evidence she won't be both sterilizing her 10-year-old AND consigning them to a life without ever having an orgasm. The response? "Seriously, the cis het center on sex a great deal." 8/n
