This @jeffpropulsion story followed on the heels of the release on FB of an audio recording of him talking with sources, which appears to have been obtained from a stolen audio recorder as he left Ethiopia.
@jeffpropulsion The story is based on an Oct. 2nd (Saturdauy) leaked email from a UN aid worker based inside Tigray. Its contents, as explained by @jeffpropulsion are deeply disturbing, seemingly showing indifference towards issues such as the weaponisation of aid and the use of child soldiers.
In a normal news media environment, the recording & leaked email would be treated as bombshell revelations, especially given their bearing on a diplomatic rift between the UN's humanitarian agencies and the Govt. of Ethiopia in the wake of the expulsion of 7 UN officials.
United Nations has bristled in response to the expulsions calling hurried meetings of the UNSC to consider the impact of the officials departure from Ethoipia (they have left) on the very serious humanitarian crisis in Northern Ethiopia which now affects 7 million people.
The bombshell in the leaked audio recording is that at the beginning of the war, the most senior leaders of the UN HQ in New York - led by @DrTedros of WHO, took over direct management of the humanitarian operations, cutting the @UNEthiopia Team out of the loop.
And that after doing so, UN HQ they then attempted to remove the @UNEthiopia head to install new leadership, more closely aligned with the UN HQ view on the crisis in Tigray. They failed in this effort however.
From what we now know it appears that an edited audio recording of an internal @UNEthiopia meeting was leaked to Omna Tigray by one of the most senior Ethiopian officials, the UNDP' Dr. Kwesi Sans-Cullotte-Greenidge, who is one of the expelled officials.
In the immediate aftermath of his expulsion, research into Dr. Kwesi's emails discovered extensive associations by the @UNEthiopia team member responsible for liason with high level leadership with TPLF propaganda.
In addition: 1. A prior professional link from Sudan was established between Dr Kwesi Sans-Cullotte and General Tsadkan Gebretensae, commander of the main Amhara offsensive against civilians which began in July, and the "hero" of the retaking of Mekelle in June.
2. Apparent involvement by Dr Kwesi (or support of) an African Human Rights inquiry which was announced four days before the Ethiopian elections, in a press event which came as a surprise to the govt. achpr.org/pressrelease/d…
The Inquiry's release notes claimed the inquiry - which is based in Gambia - had a mandate from the Ethiopian Govt. when that was not the case. They also claimed, incorrectly, that the Nov. 3 attacks on ENDF by TPLF followed an invasion by Ethiopian forces.

The appearance by @antonioguterres at the end of the meeting is perhaps the most striking bit of all of this.
"It is my duty to defend the honour of the United Nations," he said when asked about his "right of reply" at end.

"The UN has no political agenda in Ethiopia. Our agenda is just one to support the Ethiopian people, Tigrayans, Amaharas, Afaris, Somalis, that have suffered so much. We cannot see people going on dying, because of bullets, because of hunger...
"... we need to do everything to stop this conflict. We need to do everything to ensure that humanitarian aid is distributed everywhere to everybody. We need to do everything for a dialogue to be established among Ethiopians to solve the problems in Ethiopia."
The @UN_Spokesperson's insubstantive remarks on Ethiopia at today's media briefing was likely indeference UNSG @antonioguterres, who has chosen to make it the focus of the UNSC centerpiece of the day, the consultation on "Peace and Security in Africa".
Estonia followed Ireland, so far the statements have been very predictable. Reiterating and reinforcing existing flawed understanding of what has been, and is happening in Ethiopia.
France speaking now, says Obasanjo is in Paris tomorrow to talk to the French. A short formulaic statement also.
The US debate over Facebook regulation is mostly focused on the impact of dangerous, unmoderated hate speech inside the U.S. @SPP_FI raises important questions about global regulation of the hate speech giant.
The rest of the developed world barely gets any attention from @Facebook let alone the developing world, where it is huge and plays a significantly greater role in political communications than it does in the west.
In NZ in 2019, a lone Australian gunman killed 51 people on a rampage through two mosques in Christchurch, where I went to school. His shooting spree was streamed live on Facebook on thousands of pages and groups. It was far and away the largest terror event ever in NZ.
The main feature we see in this animation is a cold dry air blast coming in from the east and colliding with a high pressure system located initially roughly speaking over the Bay of Biscay. The water concentration over the Med/Italy Alps suggests significant precipitation there.
This forecast shows the very complicated evolution of water transport over this five day period - JetStream 11-18km high winds carrying elevated moisture into Europe from the North Atlantic.
