Los Angeles will soon require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter restaurants, movie theaters and many other private businesses. bit.ly/3uKHFLr
The vaccine ordinance, voted on by the L.A. City Council, is set to go into effect as of November 4. bit.ly/3uKHFLr
The mandate adds to an earlier health order that requires bars, lounges, breweries, wineries and nightclubs to ensure their patrons show proof of at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine by Oct. 7 and full vaccination by Nov. 4. bit.ly/3uKHFLr
The Sept. 17 ordinance also stated that organizers of “mega events” with over 10,000 attendees must require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. bit.ly/3uKHFLr
Now, the businesses that must require vaccines also include restaurants of any kind, gyms, entertainment venues (movie theaters, shopping centers, concert and performance venues, sports arenas, museums, arcades) and personal care establishments. bit.ly/3uKHFLr
Similar ordinances have already been passed in West Hollywood, New York and San Francisco.
The ordinance also updates event guidelines, now requiring vaccination or a negative COVID test for events with over 5,000 attendees. bit.ly/3uKHFLr
People exempt from the mandate include those with medical conditions that restrict their ability to get vaccinated or who have a “sincerely held religious belief,” which will be up to discretion of the location the person is visiting. bit.ly/3uKHFLr
The city attorney was directed to draft the ordinance after a 13-0 vote on Aug. 11. “If we ever want to get back to normal, to what Los Angeles was like pre-COVID, we need to stop the spread,” said council president Nury Martinez said at the time. bit.ly/3uKHFLr
“If individuals want to go to their gym, go to their local bar without a mask, you need to get vaccinated... If you want to watch a basketball game, a baseball game, go to a concert in a big venue, or even go into a movie theater, you need to get a shot.” bit.ly/3uKHFLr

Dwayne @TheRock Johnson has conquered the box office, the wrestling ring, TV ratings and tequila sales — now, is he about to dominate the charts?
Johnson’s about to make history with his rap debut on @TechN9ne’s new single, “Face Off.” bit.ly/3oGTW2x
“A lot of my friends who are hip-hop artists — like big names — I’ve been asked a few times. But it just has to feel right,” Johnson says. “When Tech texted me, I knew I would make this work. We’re aligned, just in terms of our work ethic and desire.” bit.ly/3oGTW2x
Superstar chef Bobby Flay and Food Network are set to part ways after a 27-year run that has made the restaurateur and businessman one of the country’s most recognizable culinary figures. bit.ly/3oPBUuK
Flay and Food Network have been in negotiations on a new contract for some time. His most recent three-year pact with the Discovery-owned cabler expires at year’s end. Sources close to the situation said that Food Network has ended the negotiations. bit.ly/3oPBUuK
Flay’s representatives at WME declined to comment on the situation, citing the policy of not commenting on active negotiations. That’s an indication that Flay’s team sees some hardball negotiating tactics afoot. bit.ly/3oPBUuK
#DearWhitePeople showrunner @JaclynPMoore announced Wednesday she would be boycotting Netflix over Dave Chappelle’s transphobic new special.
She opened up to Variety’s @marcmalkin about why she’s taking a stand against the “dangerous” rhetoric. bit.ly/2YyhwUc
“I never loved Dave’s trans material before but this time it felt different,” Moore told Variety. “This is the first time I felt like, ‘Oh, people are laughing at this joke and they’re agreeing that it’s absurd to call me a woman.’” bit.ly/2YyhwUc
“The fact is that’s the exact rhetoric and language that is used against us,” Moore continued. “He talks about our feelings being hurt. My feelings are fine, but being thrown against a wall hurts or worrying at night if I can get home safe.” bit.ly/2YyhwUc
Alexandre Desplat, the Oscar-winning composer who was set to provide the music for Guillermo del Toro’s #NightmareAlley, has backed out of the noir thriller because of scheduling. bit.ly/3uPBDcv
Desplat is a favorite to pick up a nomination at the #Oscars for his work on Wes Anderson’s #TheFrenchDispatch. Now, he won’t have to worry about competing against himself in this year’s original score category. bit.ly/3uPBDcv
#KnivesOut composer Nathan Johnson has been brought in to compose music for #NightmareAlley, but all is well between del Toro and Desplat. They’re still set to reunite for the director’s #Pinocchio. bit.ly/3uPBDcv
Should the spinoff go forward, it would be the first project Schaeffer has set up with Marvel since she signed an overall deal with them and 20th Television in May. wp.me/pc8uak-1lAhmB
