The average human attention span is now shorter than a goldfish

Here's exactly how to get into deep work, rewire your brain, and change your life

-THREAD-
Focus is the modern-day superpower that will separate you from 99% of the competition

By the end of this thread, you'll learn how to get 8 hours of work done in 4

Here's how...
1. Timeblock

It takes around 20-30 minutes to get into a flow

Take advantage of this and block out 1-3 hours to work

Build a routine around the same time every day

Your brain will associate this time with focused work and make it 10x easier to get into flow
2. Have Themed Days

You kill your focus when you mix analytical and creative work

Analytical work engages one part of your brain

Creative work engages a different part

Doing both is like stepping on the gas and hitting reverse

Separate days based on the category of work
3. Focus On One Thing

Each session should have 1 big goal

Break that goal into smaller tasks

Write it on a sticky note and keep it near you

This will remind you what is important and what is noise
4. Remove Distractions

• Put your phone in another room
• Use noise-canceling headphones
• Use website blocking apps like Freedom or Flora

Decrease input to increase your output
5. Use a Timer

Having a timer takes advantage of Parkinson's Law:

"Work expands to fill the time allotted for its completion"

It also prevents you from constantly checking the time and interrupting your focus
6. Listen to Instrumental Music

Try these soundtracks during focused work:

• TENET
• Dunkirk
• Inception
• Interstellar
• Cyberpunk 2077
• Blade Runner 2049
• The Dark Knight Trilogy

Guaranteed boost in productivity
7. Reflect

After your session, ask yourself what could be improved

• Do you need to change the length of time?
• Do you work better at a different time of day?
• Do you need to work on certain tasks before others?

Optimize for what suits you best
8. Reward Yourself

Do something enjoyable after your session

Watch Netflix, go on Twitter, play Xbox

Just do something fun

This makes your brain associate positive feelings with the completion of work

Positive feelings = increased likelihood to repeat in the future
9. Optimize Your Health

No amount of coffee will help your focus if you have a shitty lifestyle

• Eat healthy
• Sleep 7-9 hours
• Exercise 30+ minutes
• Drink 2-4 litres of water

Treat these habits as an investment in your productivity
Bonus Tips:

Helpful supplements for focus:

L-Theanine + Caffeine + Ashwagandha

= God tier focus

Helpful apps for focus:

• Flora
• Todoist
• TickTick
Brain.fm
• Freedom
• OmniFocus
• Headspace
• Google Calendar
Summary of Deep Work:

1. Timeblock
2. Have Themed Days
3. Focus On One Thing
4. Remove Distractions
5. Use a Timer
6. Listen to Instrumental Music
7. Reflect
8. Reward Yourself
9. Optimize Your Health

It's the #1 skill to learn if you want to make money online

Here are 10 easy tips to instantly boost your writing 174%

(Thread)
Everything you see on the internet involves writing

And with 4.66 billion people using the internet, it's easy for your message to get lost

But by the end of this thread, you'll be able to clarify your message and stand out from everyone else

Let's get into it👇
1. Write Like a 5th Grader

49% of Americans can't read a book past an 8th-grade level.

Keep your words simple.

Don't say "Utilize" when you can say "Use".

Don't say "Affirmative" when you can say "Yes".

The bigger your words, the smaller your audience.

8 Lessons I Learned About Family and Overcoming Trauma

That Hurt Like Motherfucker

(Thread)
1. Your Childhood Trauma Is Not Your Fault, but It Is Your Responsibility

Growing up:

I was fat
I was poor
I was anxious

But I wasn't a victim.

That is always a choice.

Instead, I used these weaknesses as fuel, turning them into my biggest strengths.
2. Trauma Is Generational

My grandpa had a dysfunctional childhood.

That led to my mom having one too.

My father didn't know his father.

That led to me growing up without one.

You have to be the one to break your generational curse.

Wanted to make a post about that last tweet I made about turning down friends to go out drinking.

Had a friend I deeply respect on here reach out and had a good chat.

Made me realize a few things.
1) I should have said "No thanks" instead of getting all dramatic with the "I gotta disappear for 6 months" bullshit.

Was cringe af to be honest.

My ego got the best of me.

I'm not better than anyone for not wanting to drink.
2) I'm trying to share more personal stuff on here but posting that stuff is not the way to do it.

Still finding my balance.

1. Learn a Skill

This is the biggest mistake.

Most people don't have any skills so they start a "Mindset & Motivation" account.

Problem is, you blend in with everyone else.

You also don't give many people a reason to follow you.

So what do you do if you have no skills?

Your brain represents just 2% of your total body weight.
