This is the consequence of poor Government. 10 times the deaths in Sept 2021 than Sept 2020

Vaccination cannot do all the heavy lifting.

The total relaxation - even of easy measures- has caused this & tells us these deaths were mostly avoidable.
Looking at death certification data of Covid deaths by date of death to 24th Sept, then addicting 28 day deaths by date of death from 25th Sept onwards (which will be an undercount due to notification lag)

1 in every 406 citizens have had a Covid related death.
By next month, at current rates of death, we will be talking about 1 in three hundred and ninety+ U.K. citizens have had Covid related deaths which I find very bleak.
Now children 👶 ENGLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 ONLY

H/t @jneill as ever for the careful data collation.

Remember that 🏥 admissions and deaths ⚰️ lag cases.
The winter peak in prevalence in secondary school age children (according to ONS surveillance data) was below 4%.

In the week to 2nd October it was nearly 7%. Not quite double.

So am I worried?

Yes. Yes I am and think we should push back hard against the minimisers
For many many children it will be too late.

Sickness, hospitalisations, #LongCovid and a small but NOT “insignificant” number will die.

Children are not supposed to be dying of an infectious disease in England!

School disruption for many.

So much avoidable.

What pretending to be French restaurant critic Jean Le Boeuf taught me about privilege

“I spent 15 years pretending to be a White guy.

For more than a third of my life, I wrote restaurant reviews under the pseudonym Jean Le Boeuf —“ washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/…
“(This) as one in a long line of Le Boeufs at the News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla. The name dates to 1979 and has been handed down critic to critic.

Le Boeuf could, in theory, be anyone.

That was the point.”
“But if my inbox served as indication — where emails started “Dear Sir” and “Cher Monsieur” — most readers assumed Jean was a dude. A French dude.

I liked being a French dude.

Perhaps because I’m not at all a French dude.”

Like all cults, Borisology is detached from reality and destined to end badly

“The Conservative & Unionist party is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired and gone to meet its maker….” theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
“It’s kicked the bucket, shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-party.

It has been replaced by the Boriservative & Johnsonist party. “
The tone was set by Oliver Dowden, not so much the party chairman as the PM’s rep on Earth. “We are all just bit players,” said Mr Dowden, telling everyone else that they were irrelevant, before referring to the principal player as “our prize stallion, our rampaging rhino”.

Boris Johnson jets off on holiday as Brits face soaring bills, cuts and shortages crisis - Mirror Online

Spanish Police : “Officially we can’t confirm, but unofficially he’s in a big luxury villa on the border between Mar-bella and Benahavis.”

mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
No way he would pay for it, but an old story came to mind

Who might lend freeloaders Johnson And Carrie a luxury villa?

Yep. Zac Goldsmith has a 3 pool villa that sleeps….

…27 people.

Off Johnson goes…As the U.K. goes to hell in a hand cart..

theolivepress.es/spain-news/201…
“A secluded and leafy corner of Benhavis”

What a coincidence.

“Sage green shutters, whitewashed exterior, serene 11 bedroomed property set in several hundred of acres of unspoilt woodland…

..helipad…Moorish tower in the gardens”

Cost $30k a week to rent 6 years ago

Isolate if you have Covid symptoms but negative PCR, says local health official

What the hell is going on?

Price, an A&E doctor from Bath of her teenage daughter: “She became ill on the Tuesday and had a vomiting bug….
theguardian.com/world/2021/oct…
…. I think a few people have started vomiting and being off school. She did a lateral flow, and we thought, ‘It’s not going to be Covid,’ but it was strongly positive. And she did multiple ones, and they were positive, and so did some of her friends…..
“Then she lost her sense of smell, which is a classic Covid symptom – but she had a PCR that was negative, her friend had a PCR which was negative, and she went on to have another one which was negative.”…..

I find it difficult to work out what is “best” on trans issues because the noise & aggression surrounding it makes it hard to find a wise way through.

I am not trans but can understand the pain of feeling like you don’t belong in your body.

Indeed I suspect many non-trans could
I have no wish to tell someone else about the “right” way to dress or present - or (something deeper and less easy to express verbally) how to “be”
But I worry a lot about decision making for kids (who may be in quite a plastic stage of physical/emotional/psychological development in particular) being rushed into irreversible processes.

I can also see that delay can also cause pain.

Tory councillor in Worthing suspended over alleged support of far right

“My view is Covid is a loss maker for us, we just need to centre on white genocide […] because many of our white race are convinced about vaccines, but not about our replacement” theguardian.com/politics/2021/…
- apparently he uses a different name on that SM - and I can see why.

In another, he is said to have urged fellow members to “remember the 14 words”, a ref to the 14-word white supremacist slogan: “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.”
In other news (h/t @jonlis1 )

A Tory MP suggests to Conservative Friends of Education that people using the term “white priviledge” should be reported and “disciplined”

Mmmm…should he be reported too? And then?
