Very good thread - democracy 1.0 comes with these associated risks and that’s why world of democracy has to evolve…especially in a country like India where corruption pervades every societal layer & one’s capacity to indulge/ or not in corruption is dependent on the opportunity!

That we tend to regard everyone, with access to an opportunity to indulge in making money by illicit means, as corrupt, is a example of society we live in. But brighter side of our society is that we also idolise everyone who conducts differently- @narendramodi is an ex of this!
One good thing about BJP is that it has an inbuilt mechanism where people who representing it leadership positions within states as CM are generally immune to corruption. They operate a cleaner administration and this is hallmark of BJP- u may not accept it but it is a reality!
When leaders are clean, it travel downwards. But the atmosphere within this country is such that it is easy to call anyone with access as corrupt. Yes it takes a lot of character to keep yourself clean in such situation and that is reason for my admiration for PM and his team!
20 years of absolute power, first within a rich state and later at centre and yet not a single speck of dirt on him and his team- that is the most defining thing about being @narendramodi - it is something that speaks volumes of him and his team- that we fail to recognise!
And that is where lies the answer to the question, @AyushNNA raised abt democracy - it is possible to run a tight and corruption free system, provided the leader is strong….@narendramodi has been proving it for last 20 years!
Nature of our society is such that it easier to hurl charges @ folks for corruption. But longevity of career of a person at the helm & that of his folks, proves that they all managed to keep the lure of making money at bay-it requires character & lot of it & u do get rewarded!
I was part of CM admin for 4 yrs & never made a penny other than wt I got as salary for 13 months -my actual period of employment in Govt.Yet,daily many tweeps from Ukd abuse & accuse me coz of my strong views abt issues of the state. Earlier I used to take offence, now I laugh!
It used to disturb me a lot seeing constant accusations but later I realised that it is an associated cost of working close to power centres. But if one is clean, it shows up the in the way u conduct yourself publicly- for flaunting wealth is natural phenomena or trait!
