She is not "uneducated." Her spelling in Hindi are fine. English is unnatural for most Indians.

The uneducated are those who equate "English" with "education." Try asking a school teacher in Japan to write in English.

It show why pushing "English-medium" as policy is madness.
See the left side of the board.

The video "examiner" didn't care to test her Hindi.

See example of a girl from UP. Totally inarticulate in spoken or written English after 10 years of *English medium* education.

When allowed to speak in Hindi, is intelligent and articulate.

Why are we obsessed with destroying minds in forcing English?

The world-over, people are educated, professional without speaking or writing in English. They are lawyers, accountants, doctors, work in MNC companies—no English.

Yes, India is not Japan. Nor will it become Japan till we are freed from English slavery.

Top corporate bosses in Japan do not use English. They are not "uneducated." Only the Indian frogs-in-the-well, obsessed with English are.

He was reading his Japanese newspaper in Business class. Naturally. In India we're trained—"Indian language"="low."

Malaysia switched court system from English to Bhasha Malay. Others have done it also.

It’s not that hard, just requires political will.
EU has 3 languages of internal communication.

But for external communication with citizens it supports all 24 languages of the Union.

An EU country citizen can call and communicate with EU in their language.

Why doesn’t India central Govt allow this?
Let everyone learn in their mother tongue, for the 96%. The 4% problem will solve itself.
Only 4% of Indians migrate from the state where they are born.

All the questioners are obsessed in “solving” what the 4% would do. While ignoring the 96%.
The Hindi on the left side of the board is error-free.

What if you were asked to spell something in Chinese, that you didn't know.

But the State and Society had made it a status symbol to know Chinese, so you know a few characters. And then you're put in front of the camera to write in Chinese. You struggle.

I have a question for "English-medium" advocates. When Chinese becomes a global language are you going to campaign for schools in India to become Chinese-medium? Or would it be better to *learn* Chinese without switching the medium to Chinese. Think, then apply that to English.
Switching the medium to Chinese means that children who don't even know Chinese will be forced to learn, math, science, history, geography *in* Chinese. How much will they comprehend?

This is what we are doing with "English-medium."

English is phonetic?😆 Not only it its spelling absurd and non-phonetic, even its alphabet has "names" of letters which are different from the sounds. So sounds have to be taught differently from names. There's not much logic involved. Just rote learning.

Umm, how does needing a link language discount the fact that one can create and run major multinational companies without knowing English, like the Japanese do?

Let's be clear English is not a "global requirement." Then we can discuss policy for India.

You said it. Even after 70 years of pushing English we do not have good English teachers, let alone general English proficiency. Time to create practical language policy driven by scientific understanding that learning happens best in mother tongue.

Where does it say she’s an English teacher? I missed that.

My only point is that English is not a measure of being educated.

Indian education and governance *are* pathetic. What’s there to disagree about that. I critique this all the time.

Argument: “English is a global need. India will develop with English-medium education.”

Me: False. Give examples of countries developing better than India without English.

Response: “But India has so many languages.”

Lol how does that prove English-medium is a “global need”?
The very same US corporations interview and hire in Chinese and Japanese and Hebrew when doing business in other countries.

MNCs adapt. The English slavery is with the Indian mind. Deliberately cultivated through policy.
Yes, English advocacy in India is part of religious zealotry, not data.

But it is also true that the policies of the Indian State have made English an essential need in India. This is why parents are choosing it.

But it’s due to State policy. NOT global necessity.

I'm always amazed at the level of technical proficiency of major government sites in India. This is just using the main "search" box on the Census site.

Bad UI, errors in routine work. India's "English Advantage" in IT gives dividends everywhere. Image
Meanwhile Chinese programmers, learning in Chinese medium, are hacking into the US government sites, exceeding the US in AI patents.

I doubt the Indian govt even has a way to figure out all its sites that are hacked, let alone hack into others. 😏

Yup, and our assorted "socialists" and communists want the government to keep running airlines and businesses, when they are clearly completely incompetent at even running a website.

Because the kickbacks are better.

See my article—“Are Indians Corrupt”?

This is a good example of internalized colonial narrative.

It comes from Christian colonizers labeling Hindoos as “morally corrupt” for not being Christian.

sankrant.org/2004/03/are-in…
Please read my article and then ask yourself why you posit that “Indians are corrupt.”

E.g. if the same question was asked in a Western research context it would be posited as “human beings are corrupt” or “are humans moral”? What is your “other” for Indians? The West? Think.
Read the article in conjunction with this one and my talk on India as a colonial state.

I learnt to program on a DEC-20 using COBOL😆 in 10th. No PCs then. I wanted to do Computer Science, didn't care about IITs. Only started IIT prep in 11th, from used notes borrowed from a cousin. Luckily got CS at IIT, never thought I would. 😌

Still say—follow your passion.
Yeah. I think I also only learnt about IITs in 11th grade (which was actually DAV college) because some of my fellow students were prepping for it. Took a while to get clued in, probably started prep close to the end of 11th.

Funny story. After I got IIT admission, but before actually joining, I taught programming in the summer at DAV college. I was 17. A lot of doctors etc were my students, I was the youngest in the class. 😀

But I convinced the DAV principal that I could teach it ha. Got paid too.

If Assam opposes illegal immigrants from Bangladesh it becomes “xenophobia” and “intolerance” because it slows demographic jihad.

But killing non-Muslims citizens in Kashmir is justified by “alarms” about “demographic change.”

Education does not fix jihadi bigotry.
If there is an “alarm” it is due to their guilt and fear of karma catching up. Due to their sanguinary blood-thirsty genocide and ethnic cleansing of non-Muslims over decades.

Eh @IfraJan_?
"The narrative of Hindutva feeds on contrived fears of demographic domination by minorities." 🙄

It doesn't take a genius to predict the fate of Hindus in an Islamic majority state–plenty of neighboring examples. Only #IYI's obfuscate the obvious.

The cleansing of non-Muslims from Kashmir continues. This is totalitarian hate propagated by a religious ideology. Deliberate strategy.

What is the center doing?
"Development" will not fix it.
"Education" will not fix it.
"Benefits" will not fix it.

Only exposing the hate-driven religious ideology and #gharwapsi will fix it. This should be the single-point plan.
