and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 31% to US$ 3.5 bn by 2023. Covid 19 outbreak had brought physical games to a standstill. In such a scenario, the rising millennials and Gen Z population brought online gaming.
2)Indian gaming industry is projected to grow over 31.7% YoY due to the growth of digital infrastructure and significant rise in quality and engaging of gaming content.
By 2024, the gaming industry in India is set to be valued at $ 3,544 mn.
3)India’s online gaming industry has already attracted over $ 350 mn in investments from VC firms between 2014 and 2020.
In India, the average revenue per gamer has increased from $2.3 in 2016 to $8.85 in 2020.
4)The penetration of gaming in India has also doubled from 15% in 2016 to 30% in 2020. The proliferation of cheap smartphones, high-speed internet and reduction in data prices are the key drivers for this rapid growth.
5)The mobile gaming segment in the Indian gaming industry is the largest in terms of revenue. The mobile gaming segment is
expected to reach a market size of $ 3.1 bn by 2023. The mobile gaming market is expected to reach a value of $ 116 bn by 2023, growing at a CAGR of 15% YoY.
6)Gamified Early learning segment: There were 321,763 paying subscribers as of June 2021, 25% increase as compared to June 2020. Monthly ARPU was $6.3-$6.5 and monthly churn rate between 4-7% across the months in Q1 FY22. The company plans to increase marketing spends in Q2FY22.
7)eSports: This segment contributed 40.5% of total revenue in Q1FY22, and has shown a 100% YoY growth. During the quarter, Nodwin grew by 61.3% YoY and expanded to Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan and Maldives.
8)Sportkeeda grew by 428.6% YoY and witnessed MAU growth of 254% on YoY basis.
9)Freemium: Revenue grew by 38.1% in Q1FY22, due to IPL in April 2021. The Co. has plans to aggressively invest to scale up user base on World Cricket Championship (WCC), once positive LTV/CAC (Lifetime Value/ Consumer acquisition Cost) equation is achieved.
10)Other segment: Revenue from Telco subscription declined by 19% YoY to Rs.17.9 cr. The revenue contribution was down to 16.5% in FY21 to 14% in Q1FY22, and the co. plans to reduce its focus in this segment, with the growth in other 3 segments.
11)The co. has acquired a majority stake in Publishnme to focus on building local execution capabilities across key growth segments of freemium, gamified learning and eSports in Middle East/North Africa.
