Interesting interview. Fiona Hill is such a classy person. Very brave to stand up to TFG & his minions.
See my tweet below for my take on the sexist nickname.
The (childish) nickname he used was "the Russia bitch" and I want y'all to know that term like several others is a far lamer insult in British, Kiwi, and Aussie culture than in the US. Same goes for the C word. We use them almost as terms of endearment LOL.
It matters because:
While it's true that calling her that IS sexist and misogynistic (no surprise there) I bet he had no idea what a lame insult it is for someone who grew up in the UK. If someone calls me a "bitch" I laugh. So the joke is on TFG. He is very unintelligent & that is proven every day.
During the time that I was a MAGA cult member I had allowed my mind to be fooled because of "confirmation bias" and other all too common tricks the human mind can play on all of us. We are ALL hardwired as pattern seekers. Look it up and you will learn a lot about the subject.
Confirmation bias meant that during that time I was esp. prone to seeing what I wanted to see, rather than seeing the truth, aka reality. I'm not ashamed, because I have learned through reading about #science that your brain and mine are wired this way. It helped humans survive.
I supported GOP policies in 2016 because I had no major concerns about the methods the party used at that time.
In 2021, I have deep concerns about those methods. They are a clear and present danger to the USA and inevitably to every country that's on Team USA, like NZ.
The GOP's total capitulation to TFG is why the GOP can't have nice things.
Consider for example how many of those who routinely vote GOP are not anti-vax nutcases or rabid anti-maskers. This group of people are smart and accomplished. Their only option rn is to walk away.
When GOP politician after politician sided with Covid against humans, they made a terrible mistake, for their party.
In other countries the relatively sane & smart majorities on the left & right have so far kept the lunatic #procovid fringe out on the fringe where they belong.
Without the cult goggles on, I now recognize the true nature of TFG & therefore the utter stupidity of anyone in public life who's is still in his corner, after all that has played out in public so far.
His tactics are not working anymore. Not like they were in, say, 2017.
Biden's decision to waive executive privilege over 1/6 related evidence was a brilliant decision for the country. One of several made so far in his presidency.
Now we wait to see if TFG actually sues the NARA to keep them hidden. I am sure he is scared.
Good.

Attacks like today's in Norway, for which the death toll is at least 5, can often be (immediately) used by US "gun control" activists to justify their view. The same goes for "gun rights" activists, who immediately look to justify their view.
This is dumb, because the US and Norway have major differences in laws, history, politics, religion, and culture.
So any knee jerk comparison is not going to be rational or credible. There is time to analyze any mass murder crime in the months and years ahead.
Read the article, there's a lot in it. I live in New Zealand where smooth, accessible shipping is critical to our survival, safety, and standard of living. The cost of sending a container from NZ to China went from something like NZD5k to NZD50k early in the pandemic.
Around half of NZ's export income is from trade with China. We're a giant grass-fed dairy farm, essentially. Along with selling other primary produce, and niche high tech stuff, and the best Pinot Noir and other wines in the world. (I'm hopelessly biased of course.)
Today is October 12, 2021, and so far President Biden has not encouraged, enabled, or denied his admin's role in any terrorist attacks on the seat of the federal government.
Nor told anyone to defy a Congressional subpoena order.
Daily reminder that TFG caused the 2021 crisis in Afghanistan, to own the libs, no matter how may innocents would be killed.
Any of the TINY number of Americans who WANT to leave AFG had at least 12 months' notice of US withdrawal & heightened risk there. I'd have left then.
TFG's (idiotically) public advice to his henchmen to defy Congressional subpoenas constitutes attempted obstruction of justice. He doesn't control the US DOJ anymore.
A legislature is the highest court in the land, tbh. They can order a witness to appear, and act if they don't.
All the major social media platforms have the same problem: how to lawfully try to reduce harm while maximizing the success of a product funded by advertisers (ie NOT you or me.)
It's not easy for them. To make it easier for you, think about WHY they are doing it.
Twitter isn't here as a public service or a charity. They are here to earn a profit for shareholders. Unless you want to live in a totalitarian state (whether communist or far right fascist) then it pays to remember these facts.
If there is only one bill for which to end the filibuster, it's the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
I've studied the detail of both parties' current stance on VR & it's abundantly clear what Rs are trying to do, & why. It' would damage the country like the Dred Scott ruling did.
The slowness of the US system in terms of making & amending laws has been one of it's strengths. But those barriers can only work when bipartisanship is possible.
I think the US has reached a point where some of the barriers need removing. The filibuster appears the most urgent.
The reason I can say this: New Zealand has "the fastest laws in the west." The exec branch is derived from the legislature + there's a ton of other ways a government can get things done. So I see the disadvantages of that clearly.
The exchange about military, at this 2020 presidential election debate should be watched by everyone.
TFG said "I don't know Beau, I know Hunter," which in itself says A LOT. He wanted to focus on HB, fine. But in doing so he revealed his true colors.
There were multiple things said even in just a few minutes of that debate that were disgusting & should have rung alarm bells for more voters than they did.
Imagine running for president against someone whose son died recently & pretty much everyone knew that at the time, and..
... even with clear prompting from your opponent that you're wading into deep water (Biden's response was brilliant IMO), and you say out loud that you "don't know" his son, IOW you don't want to talk about him.
He darn well knew who Beau was & that he was a decorated veteran.
