President Biden’s #BuildBackBetter plan is the agenda that he campaigned on: addressing the urgent needs of millions of American families—for child care, pre-k, college, health care, fast internet access, & so much more. Do you know what’s in it? Read on: whitehouse.gov/build-back-bet…
Negotiations are underway to move the Build Back Better agenda through Congress. What won’t change is the agenda’s core: supporting working families, tackling the climate crisis, and creating jobs—all paid for by ensuring that the wealthy pay their fair share.
The #BuildBackBetter Agenda levels the playing field so that the wealthiest who benefited from Trump's tax giveaways pay their fair share—and uses the funds to support families and, with a rising tide, lift all boats. It's a win-win.
Here are some key pieces of the agenda.
LOWER COSTS. Child care, higher ed, prescription drugs, health care, housing. POTUS’s plan will make sure middle-class families can actually afford high-quality child care in America. Ask any parent: Affordable child care is life-changing.
President Biden’s plan will work to make health care more affordable and lower health care costs and premiums by closing the Medicaid gap and lowering prescription drug costs. Right now, Americans pay 2-3x more for their prescription drugs than people in other wealthy countries.
⅓ of American adults with children struggle to pay their usual expenses. @POTUS’s American Rescue Plan (which passed thanks to Democrats and NO thanks to Republicans) expanded the Child Tax Credit & made it monthly, which has already brought critical relief to so many families.
Thanks to Democrats in Congress, the families of nearly 1.2 million Wisconsin children are breathing a little bit easier at the end of each month. President Biden is committing to delivering for working families across the state and continuing to provide these essential tax cuts.
POTUS’s plan would also create good-paying union jobs to tackle the climate crisis, while establishing energy efficiency and clean energy standards. When President Biden thinks about climate change, he thinks jobs.
All of this is possible because of the foundation on which the plan rests: Ensuring that corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. This whole plan will be paid for by making the tax code fairer—instead of handing out giveaways to those at the top.
Here’s the thing: delivering for working families, lowering prices of everyday things, and building resilient infrastructure is *popular.* Overall support for #BuildBackBetter is huge—66%—including 61% of Independents, and 39% of Republicans. navigatorresearch.org/wp-content/upl…
Raising taxes on the super-rich is wildly popular *by itself.* People are sick of watching those at the top make off like bandits. And raising taxes on the super-rich in order to finance efforts that benefit everyone makes the whole plan a huge political win.
So we have to ask ourselves honestly: Do we keep an economy that serves the very wealthy and biggest corporations? Or do we finally give the middle class a fair shot?
Do we, as a nation, just let the rich get richer? Or do we finally give working families a leg up?
On the campaign trail, Biden summed up his plan to invest in working families: Scranton vs. Park Avenue. Since the pandemic, billionaires have seen their wealth go up, while ordinary folks (like in Scranton, as @POTUS would say), have been left behind. ips-dc.org/u-s-billionair…
We’re fighting to pass the #BuildBackBetter plan—a plan that benefits everyone—across lines of race and place. It’s supported by the overwhelming majority of Democrats in both chambers of Congress. It’s POTUS’s #1 legislative priority.
Let’s get it done.

The brutality of Indian boarding schools is a stain on our country's conscience—and a history that far too few non-Native Americans know. It's time to learn it and reckon with it. If this is unfamiliar to you, here are some links to start with: 1/
This two-part story from 2008 by @NPR lifts up the voices of some survivors of a program founded on the principle of, as its founder put it, "all the Indian there is in the race should be dead. Kill the Indian in him, and save the man."
At least ten of these boarding schools, founded in the last 19th century and operating for decades, were in Wisconsin. One after another, these schools sought to destroy any vestige of tribal culture. jsonline.com/story/news/202…
On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we celebrate and honor the history, resilience, and culture of indigenous peoples across our country and in Wisconsin. We also uplift the Native vote—which played a key role in putting President Biden in the White House. 1/
Native Americans make up 1.5% of WI’s voting population. Biden won by just 20,682 votes—a 0.6% margin of victory. A rigorous statewide analysis by the Oneida Nation estimated that 82% of Wisconsin’s Native people voted for Joe Biden.
Menominee County—home of the Menominee Nation—perfectly illustrates the point. It was the state’s most-Democratic county: 82% of voters went for Biden-Harris. Per the census, 82% of the county is Native. madison.com/ct/opinion/col…
The Wisconsin GOP legislature used taxpayer funds to hire an ultra-partisan former state Supreme Court Justice to "investigate" 2020's election. Today, he said he doesn't understand how elections work.
If your new mechanic is raising up your car on the lift for an inspection and casually mentions that he doesn’t have a comprehensive understanding—or even any understanding—of how cars work, get your car out of there as fast as possible.
If you’re about to be put under anesthesia and the surgeon says she doesn’t want understand how hearts work, find a way to get out of the operating room.

Wisconsin is the closest state in the country. 4 of the last 6 presidential elections have come down to less than 1%. And it isn’t just close—it’s decisive. Wisconsin was the “tipping point” state in both 2016 & 2020. Win Wisconsin, you win the presidency. nationalreview.com/2020/12/wiscon…
That’s why Wisconsin’s governorship is one of the most critical jobs in American politics. Re-elect a champion of democracy like @Tony4WI and we have a fighting chance to win in 2024. But if Kleefisch gets in, she’s promised to sign drastic restrictions on voting.

THREAD: Rebecca Kleefisch is running to be the GOP’s nominee for governor against @GovEvers. She says a lot. The problem? You can’t believe what she says. Her record of dishonesty makes clear that you can’t trust #RadicalRebecca. For example…
Kleefisch’s campaign launch video starts with images of fires in Kenosha a year ago. No, she’s not calling out the vigilante teen who killed two people. She’s pushing a debunked, divisive right-wing storyline—that ignores Gov Evers’ swift response: politifact.com/factchecks/202…
And while Kleefisch has been one of the worst offenders of using Kenosha to provoke conflict, her *initial* response to the shooting of Jacob Blake actually echoed Gov Evers’ comments. Now, she’s changing her position to fit her new radical agenda.
