We want to share some tips and reminders on how to deal with climate anxiety and grief. We also want to remind you that you're not alone. 🫂🌎❤️

🧵 [1/7]
Whether you witness it from your window or from your computer, the #ClimateCrisis can feel overwhelming.

Although the most common phrase to describe this is ‘climate anxiety’, @Carolinehickma from @ClimatePsychol thinks we should be saying ‘climate empathy’ instead.

[2/7]
Being ‘climate empathetic’ is actually a good thing.

Being empathetic with the Earth means we understand the problem and want to help. It can drive us to take action. It's esp. useful when a critical mass of people is needed to have an impact, like in a campaign group.

[3/7]
If you feel panicked by the scale, spread and frequency of the climate crisis (which might be exacerbated by online news-streams that encourage doom scrolling) then it can help to focus on things within your control.

[4/7]
This could include making changes to your diet, your travel, your energy use or your shopping choices.

Progress is more important than perfection, and every effort helps to create the new normal we all need.

[5/7]
Getting outside can also be encouraging. Even heavily-degraded ecosystems are full of examples of resilient nature, and spending time outside has been proven to alleviate stress.

[6/7]
Remember, help is there if you need it. The Eco-Anxiety web page has information on helplines.

We are in this together, and together we can make real change!
