Since its flu season, home remedy for a cold: 1 red onion, 2 tsp ginger powder, 5-8 whole peppercorns.
Slice onion into half, put in a pot of 1 litre water, put ginger powder and peppercorns, bring to a boil for 20 minutes. Strain, have half a cup daily, warm.

If you don't want to make a lot of it, you can put 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, 1/8 teaspoon ginger powder, 1/8 or less teaspoon peppercorns powder in a cup of hot water, let it cool for a few minutes, then drink.

This is a recipe someone gave my mother. It works, as onion, ginger and pepper are great for dealing with colds
You might not like the taste, but I guarantee its not spicy at least

Oh damn, i forgot to add, also put 2 tsps of ajwain, also known as carom seeds or bishop's weed or ajowan caraway.
