From someone who's been there.

β€’ Infidelity

Cheating is always based in selfishness.

Love isn't a feeling.
Love is a choice.
Love is a verb.

Our inability to forgive our partners in marriage is one of the major reasons they fail.
β€’ Laziness

β€œIt’s not worth the effort.”

Unrealistic expectations

Marriage is not what you see in the movies.

β€’ Lack of communication

There's no structured time to listen to each other.

If you're not reading books or looking for ways to improve your marriage, there's a good chance it's deteriorating.
β€’ Not being there for your spouse

"How can I help you?"
"What do you need?"

Is different than, "How can I fix it?"

People often treat their friends better than their spouse.

We come from different backgrounds and expect different things. It's rarely discussed...before or after marriage.

Parenting styles change as our kids grow.
Our jobs and responsibilities change.
Now what? What can you do?
Men, strengthen your walls.

In most cases, it's the man's responsibility to protect the marriage.

Read the list again. You'll notice, you have a direct impact in every situation.
It's your responsibility to

β€’ lead your family

Everything your dad should have taught you about investing but didn't.

// a thread
My dad worked hard.

At 18 he started working in the gold and silver mines of Leadville Colorado, alongside my grandfather.

He never invested in the stock market and he never contributed to an IRA.

Obviously, my dad never taught me to invest, so it never crossed my mind.
Covid hit in early 2020 and I took the opportunity to reinvent myself.

At 54 years old I started my first Twitter account and by chance, some of the people I followed posted about money & investing.

I'd entered the world of Money Twitter...

on accident.

3 ways I messed up that you can avoid...right now.

//tiny thread
- Get healthy

You can pay now or pay later but everyone pays.

The price is steep when you're older.

Things you might not think about:

β€’ drink more water (1oz for every 2lbs you weigh)
β€’ get enough sleep (7-8 hours a night)
β€’ meditate 10 minutes a day
- Create additional streams of income. There's so much opportunity it's insane.

Think bigger. An additional $10K, $20K or $50K a month is possible.

Improve your mindset.

My wife cheated on me.

// thread
I called my wife's office during lunch. Her boss answered the phone.

"Hey George, she just left. Can I leave a message?"

"No. I'll call later."

"I LOVE the flowers you sent her."

(awkward pause)

"Thanks!"

Except...I hadn't sent her flowers.
My mind raced.

"Maybe she bought herself flowers?"
"Maybe her mom sent her flowers?"
"Maybe ... Fuck ... maybe she's cheating?"

"What if I fail?"
"What if she says no?"
"What if I let them down?"

Is fear is running your life?

// thread 🧡 Image
In the beginning, living with fear can be comfortable.

As long as you don't do anything crazy, fear doesn't go crazy himself.

But we all know, it never lasts.

Fear gets greedy.

I'm a 55 year old who gained 10,000 followers on Twitter in just 6 months.

This is my story.

// thread
In 2012 we sold everything and moved from the United States to a small mountain village in Guatemala.

We sold our dream home.
We sold 2 successful businesses.
We sold all the kids toys.
Over a beer, my friend Bryan asked, "How can you do that to your kids bro? The U.S. is the best country in the world. You're really taking all that away???"

My wife and I lost some of our best friends in the move.
