Zig Ziglar's Secrets of Closing the Sale by @TheZigZiglar

What you'll learn:

- Zig Ziglar describes and gives examples for some of the best ways to persuade someone to buy from you.
amazon.com/Zig-Ziglars-Se…
Personal note:

I've read a lot of books on selling. This is a classic and in my opinion, the only one you ever need to read on the subject.

"You can have everything you want in life if you'll just help enough other people to get what they want."
Atomic Habits by @JamesClear

What you'll learn:

- An atomic habit is a regular practice or routine that is not only small and easy to do, but is also the source of incredible power.
amazon.com/Atomic-Habits-…
Personal note:

This is the book I'd start with. Begin here and build the foundation to personal growth and life achievement.

"Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement."
One up On Wall Street by Peter Lynch

What you'll learn:

- This may be the best book for beginners to learn investing. Easy to read. Packed with strategies.

"If you can't explain to a 10-year-old why you own a stock, you shouldn't own it."
amazon.com/One-Wall-Stree…
Personal note:

Before I read this book I owned zero stock. I now have a small growing portfolio of 10 stocks.

It all started because of this book.

StoryWorthy by @MatthewDicks

- It's not enough to know HOW to write.

There are dozens if not hundreds of books on storytelling.

This is the best, by miles.

I never have to read another book on storytelling again.
amazon.com/Storyworthy-En…
Personal note:

This book has made it into my top 10 of all time and is on a very short list of books I read once a year.

If I could have lunch with one author, I think it would be Matthew Dicks.
Outliers by Malcolm @Gladwell

What you'll learn:

- Success may not be mysterious and arbitrary after all. Instead, success can be studied and explained by using successful individuals as case studies.
amazon.com/Outliers-Story…
Personal note:

Listen to this one on audiobook. It's hypnotizing.

"It takes 10,000 hours of intensive practice to achieve mastery"
Willpower Doesn't Work by @BenjaminPHardy

What you'll learn:

- Willpower alone won't help you lose weight, improve your marriage or grow on Twitter. Our environment is far too powerful.

The only way to thrive is to intentionally shape our environment.

3 ways I messed up that you can avoid...right now.

//tiny thread Image
- Get healthy

You can pay now or pay later but everyone pays.

The price is steep when you're older.

Things you might not think about:

• drink more water (1oz for every 2lbs you weigh)
• get enough sleep (7-8 hours a night)
• meditate 10 minutes a day
- Create additional streams of income. There's so much opportunity it's insane.

Think bigger. An additional $10K, $20K or $50K a month is possible.

Improve your mindset.

My wife cheated on me.

// thread
I called my wife's office during lunch. Her boss answered the phone.

"Hey George, she just left. Can I leave a message?"

"No. I'll call later."

"I LOVE the flowers you sent her."

(awkward pause)

"Thanks!"

Except...I hadn't sent her flowers.
My mind raced.

"Maybe she bought herself flowers?"
"Maybe her mom sent her flowers?"
"Maybe ... Fuck ... maybe she's cheating?"

Is fear is running your life?

// thread 🧵 Image
In the beginning, living with fear can be comfortable.

As long as you don't do anything crazy, fear doesn't go crazy himself.

But we all know, it never lasts.

Fear gets greedy.

I'm a 55 year old who gained 10,000 followers on Twitter in just 6 months.

This is my story.

// thread
In 2012 we sold everything and moved from the United States to a small mountain village in Guatemala.

We sold our dream home.
We sold 2 successful businesses.
We sold all the kids toys.
Over a beer, my friend Bryan asked, "How can you do that to your kids bro? The U.S. is the best country in the world. You're really taking all that away???"

My wife and I lost some of our best friends in the move.

Webster’s Dictionary is wrong. Marriage isn’t a noun, it’s a verb.

How to get through your first year.

//a thread
You can't plant a seed (or a marriage) and expect it to bear fruit the next day...or the next month or even the next year.

It doesn’t work that way.
I talked to my dad last night and he asked about the apple trees we planted last spring.

“We're getting a little fruit dad. A couple of apples. It’s still not the best fruit though. The best fruit will come in 2-3 years.”

You can't rush seeds.

I NEVER EVER talk poorly about him behind his back. I always lift him up. No matter what.

Women are black belts in this. Stop it.
I'm interested in what he's doing.

He goes through phases.

• early in our marriage he trained for triathlons
• then went through a poker phase
• now, it's Twitter.

I love it. (And I love that I get to post on his page today)
