Policy creates all this pain, and policy can change this pain. #BuildBackBetter
If you put your hand on the Bible to get sworn into Congress, and you know one day you’ll stand before God, why would you wake up every day and try to figure out how you can cut back and take from the poor and give more and more to the greedy rich and corporations?
We’ve not yet been scared to life, because all of the policy death has been hidden.

Our movement is not a yes organization that just speaks the company line. (It’s an organism, not an organization!) We are disaggregating how this BBB $1.7T addresses or doesn’t address poor and low-wealth ppl.
"For those who rule the South, the class that rules the South they understand that they don’t live in a conservative state, they don’t live in a conservative region. We call it conservative, we call it backwards they're trying everything they can to suppress those very democratic
movements that you talked about and written about for years. That is why the South is anti labor. It's not because the people are anti labor. It's because they passed laws that make it difficult for those movements to emerge and to thrive. That's why the South is anti-immigrant
#PoorPeoplesCampaign, investments in universal pre-K, clean energy, child tax credits & childcare wouldn’t be in this framework if we had not pushed & marched & gotten arrested in DC, West Virginia, Arizona. Remember, Manchin wanted to “press pause” on the whole plan this summer.
If it’s in there, it’s because we fought for it! This isn’t everything we need, but it’s evidence that we can change the conversation & win investments in people.
We have to keep fighting for paid family leave & raising care workers to $15/hr, & Dems shouldn’t pass infrastructure unless they are assured in writing that Manchin & Sinema will vote together for BBB, VRA, & For The People Act.
We’ve come to Charleston with a clear message for Sen. Manchin & Sen. Capito: Our best economists have taught us that investments in people are needed in a democracy.
.@TheRAC has been a close partner of the #PoorPeoplesCampaign. Our Jewish brothers and sisters & all of our partners are clear that we stand together against all forms of xenophobia, racism & hate and on the side of civil & human rights for all people.
If you want to hate & divide our Jewish brothers & sisters, we are not with that. If you want to hate & malign our Muslim brothers & sisters, we are not with that.
If you want to hate & divide our White, Black, Asian, Native, Latino, Haitian, African, Christian, Poor, LGBTQ friends & neighbors, we are not with that.
We’re asking the media to stop calling Sen. Joe Manchin “moderate.” His positions are politically mean, not moderate. But he still has the opportunity to go down in history as a great senator, if he will only change!
Rev. Dr. @liztheo reminds us that asking how much the Build Back Better will cost is the wrong question. The right question is How much will it cost for us NOT to do this?
