Alright I can officially tell y'all I'm on the #academicjobs market.
I'm applying to higher education & sport management TT positions & this dope scholar is ready to be picked up.
You might be wondering what I do, so allow me to tell you.
Let's start w/my degree
My degree is in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies w/a focus in higher education administration.
I've got a MBA too & about 5 years as a #SApro in career services & academic advising.
You've got some career background. Now let's turn to my research.
My research centers on college athletics & at my core I'm a higher ed trained person. I use college impact, sociology, & organizational behavior theories to ground my research.
I'm a #quantitative methodologist and lean heavily into quantitative criticalism to answer my ?s
My research agenda is designed to identify inequities in college athletics from a systemic/organizational level & address those w/practically relevant work.
Broadly, I explore 3 areas. 1) College #Esports, 2) social justice in college athletics, 3) Higher education governance
I bring these areas together using the theories & methods above, but I also tap into critical discourse analysis and other general #qualitative methods to answer my ?s
Beyond those areas, I explore college student needs insecurity, career outcomes, & college student development
Let's jump into teaching.
I've been an instructor of record for 5 years teaching both undergrads & graduates. Both online and in-person modes
Higher ed subject wise I can teach sociology in higher ed., college governance/finance, intro to higher ed, college student development
From the sport management side I can teach college athletic administration, sport finance, org theory in sport, sociology of sport or leadership development in sport.
Beyond the subjects my pedagogy is centers career relevant development & justice based learning
I use my instruction to help students develop skills that will advance their careers and encourage them to think about how to be liberators in their own ways.
This thread is getting long, so I'm going to wrap up but if you made it this far.....
Let me say THANK YOU!! I appreciate the time invested in reading this thread.
At the end of the day I'm just looking to get into a department that's welcoming to a new scholar who's bringing their authentic self to work DAILY and who's looking to change higher education
& college athletics for the better. For me that starts w/ my research and teaching, and using my position to help develop equity and justice driven leaders of the future.
If you want more info, hit the DM's they stay open. Thank you!!
