A lot of people just can’t grasp, emotionally, that some people want different things than they do, like or dislike different things, and will do different things given the opportunity. And so they operate on false assumptions. Grief inevitably ensues.

Call it self blinding. Call it refusal to face facts. The article talks about how the author’s son got into a good middle school, but it turned out to be ‘segregated.’
You mean children were assigned to this school on the basis of their race, and it was all one race. Nope.

Such schools are illegal, and remain so. What the author means is a school that doesn’t have the same proportion of students of each race as the city as a whole. Too many whites and Asians, not enough blacks and Hispanics.
We all know the reason for this: on the average, blacks and Hispanics don't perform at the same level as whites and Asians. There's a lot of pointless argument about why this is true, pointless because there is nothing that can be done about it. Maybe someday, not now.

Really, the progressives are right. If you want "diversity," you have to give up excellence. They are honest enough to admit this. The good liberals aren’t.
