It is convenient but false to blame Dems’ sagging polling on having failed to pass key legislation yet.

Repubs have spent the last five decades failing to repeal Roe and the last decade failing to repeal the ACA.

They’ve weaponized those failures.

Dems do not do that.

Repubs convert legislative failures into bottomless wellsprings of anger toward Democrats. Then they go back to the well whenever they need to juice their base.

Dems are being obstructed by all 50 of the 50 Repub senators and you can’t find a single coherent Dem msg abt that.

Instead, the media has:

1) entirely absolved Republicans of any responsibility whatsoever for blocking widely popular legislation

2) obsessively centered coverage on two holdout Dems

There are 52 holdouts. 50 get a pass.

Dems are too busy fighting to change that.

Dems have willingly backed themselves into a corner where they alone will be judged by whatever legislation does or doesn’t pass.

They’ve created a ticking bomb they need to defuse just to not blow themselves up.

If this situation were reversed, Repubs would be nonchalant about their internal bickering and holdouts and would instead be using the delays to flog the shit out of Democrats for blocking progress.

We, as Dems, have such an earnestness problem.

We don’t really get that virtually everything can be turned into either a weapon or a shield with the right framing, messaging and repetition.

We are so obsessed with winning on truth, we get killed by people running on fiction.
