@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance I never finished my PhD because I ran out of money but I did everything but the dissertation but a my first attempt at the dissertation I studied political language in the 2000-2004 elections.

1/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance The GOP used simplified metaphoric language that attaches to people's personal metaphors. It was the first time that standard political framing was broken. The first time it wasn't used in modern elections if I remember correctly....

2/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance The simplified metaphorical language used terms like love which most people won't try to define any further than what their own personal interpretation of love is.

3/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance No child Left behind as a perfect example of this -- first no one is going to argue that you should leave children behind but second everyone has an emotional attachment to the words in that statement without needing to define it.

4/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance This came from Karl Rove who loved mass media communications. And that's where they developed this language framework. Not a political frame working but MMC. And this is why there were such unusual alliances in those elections because the emotional attachment to metaphor.

5/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance Because once you attach to the person's personal metaphors they are almost impossible to break with any sort of logic or reason or stats or figures because we are attached to those are such a deep level.

6/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance This is the basis of most marketing today because Tide is no better than Cheer but we develop emotional attachments to the brands.

(And then there's a whole huge religious component that I won't get into here cuz but they did insert religious text into like Bush's speeches.)

7/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance So the problem is the Democrats always talk like the teacher and Professor which does not attach to these metaphors so you can say Critical Race Theory, push the fear/race button, and you can get those on the Republican side to vote for you because fear is their motivator.

8/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance There is an amazing linguist @GeorgeLakoff who has written books about this (since I believe it was late 90s early 2000) and he tried to get the Democrats to listen to him about language.

He goes into a lot of these theories and they are on point.

georgelakoff.com/books/

9/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance @GeorgeLakoff Now let's add to that the Democrats do not understand black hat digital marketing.

Black hat digital marketing is not illegal, do they do break the TOS of the platforms, it is a way to mass push messages across social media platform so that they get the most eyes on them.

10/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance @GeorgeLakoff I work in the world with people who are black hat digital marketers / hardcore guerrilla marketing.

Very few people are really good at this, but they live in my world.

These digital marketers don't work for agencies. They don't need too.

11/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance @GeorgeLakoff And it's so frustrating to watch Twitter at 3 a.m. & see every right wing blue check & every fake account push disinfo knowing that by the time the truth gets its feet on the floor the lies will be solidified.

But that's not even the most frustrating part....

12/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance @GeorgeLakoff The most frustrating part is you can use the same tactics for good.

The Democrats could use it to push the truth and the facts a million miles before those lies gets solidified. But they don't do it ..

13/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance @GeorgeLakoff And there's no large-scale coordination of messaging -- as mentioned in the video -- with these kinds of digital marketing tactics and that's how we get beat every time.

14/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance @GeorgeLakoff This guy? He's a hacker but 90% of what he did to be one of the largest disinformation spreaders (on the election & vaccines) is all part of digital marketing that could be used by the Dems for good to get their message out.

google.com/amp/s/arstechn…

14/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance @GeorgeLakoff 👆 Oops inserted the last one in the wrong place but it still reads correctly lol

15/
@SteveSchmidtSES @MalcolmNance @GeorgeLakoff Anyway the video is 100% correct they don't have the messaging, coordination, and definitely not the digital marketing strategy.

The good thing is all of this can be corrected & it wouldn't even be that hard.

Just have to hire the right people.

/End Vent 😜

There is a group of accounts on @Twitter trying to affect the Kyle Rittenhouse Trial by spreading falsehoods about the sequence of events and what occurred.

I have included screenshots and video so you can determine it for yourself.

🧵 Thread
__
These accounts will say a guy chased him, threw something, & he shot him, but that is false. The first shooting was not self-defense

NOTE the guy who chased him threw a PLASTIC BAG likely because KR was running across a parking lot w a gun. KR never turns his weapon on him.

1/
1. Kyle runs across parking lot towards a group behind a few cars.

Person running after him is NOT who he shot.
HERE is the sequence of events.

Everyone can watch for themselves here.

.@JoeNBC you're right the @dccc @POTUS @VP need to sell it.

What they also need is a team hardcore digital media marketers to push the message because that's where we lose every time.

The right is a well oiled machine.

The Dems aren't & that's how they lose every time.

1/
I don't mean an ad ad agency. I don't mean a political consulting group. I don't mean a PR group. I mean actual hardcore digital marketers and I don't even think theb@dnc know what that actually means. I do because I work in that space & I see how they lose every time.

2/
The fake account networks that tell the lies in the middle of the night to get them trending by the East Coast breakfast. The same message repeated in social by every blue check account to make sure that lie is visible and trending everywhere at once.

@curaffairs The author doesn't know enough about search to have written that article and the reason he's having those problems is AI algos like Rank Brain and Google's attempts to use natural language processing nothing to do with SEOs.

1/x
@curaffairs YMYL is not evaluated at the site level, but the query level.

Again this is on Google, not SEOs because they want to surface better sites.

And those devaluations are part of Core Updates which SEOs like me recover sites from.

2/
@curaffairs Featured Snippets are not optimized for - you can use certain HTML to be pulled in one but there is no definite use case where Featured Snippets are shown or that your site's will show for it. Also doesn't always come from the #1 result.

& that's Google not the SEO.
