1/ SEC chair #Gensler’s speech at the Securities Enforcement Forum yesterday if you missed it. Quoting the first SEC chair Joseph Kennedy - apparently are at war with #crypto and it is just a bunch of buzzwords for the same old thing. sec.gov/news/speech/ge…
/2 Gensler should read up on his history and not just throw around quotes. Kennedy was a pragmatist who had to manage the zealous enforcement reformers in the SEC. Good article to read on the #SEC founding here: sechistorical.org/museum/galleri…
/3 The regulatory war (his words not mine) is a sign of the maturity of the #blockchain#crypto#Digitalassets industry. Ignore us, make fun of us, fight us and then we win. Oh and @MarkYusko check the source of your quote on :)
/4 Gensler: “Enforcement is one of the fundamental pillars in achieving the SEC’s mission.” And then a mention that “policy framework”
is one too. We have had 6 years of enforcement - can we have a little focus on the policy framework that we have been begging for ?
/5 and the policy work - the President’s Working Group with the Stablecoin Report - which recommends that we fit the square peg of #stablecoins issuers into the round hole of banking regulation. Because, there isn’t nothing new happening here. home.treasury.gov/system/files/1…
/6 rant over. Anyone interested in convening a crypto policy framework independence hall - I’ll host at my house in Raleigh. Got a hot tub and some great BBQ.
/7 JK - rant not over. The policy framework proposals must come from us. See the Chamber of Digital Commerce’s great letter proposing one on Stablecoins to the PWG below. …u2o7ouq1ymaad-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/upl…
