Eddie Howe - Everything you need to know about our manager-in-waiting🧵#nufc#Howe#howeythelads
1/ Howe is young and innovative. A staple of Howe’s personality is that he’s constantly striving to learn and improve himself - as well as his players. As a bare minimum, Howe holds himself accountable for giving absolutely everything he has to his role. 100% commitment only.
2/ At Bournemouth, Howe was renowned for his attacking style of play and inventive set pieces. He advocates playing possession-based football and attempts to dictate games in the opposition half to create as many chances as possible. The foundation to his philosophy is teamwork.
3/ EH has demonstrated that he can get the best out of his players, regardless of ability or preconceptions. He’s built a reputation for improving below-par players and he will invest endless amounts of time and effort into a single player to take them to their next level.
4/ Howe will analyse every little detail of his squad and will work in tandem with them in order to improve their understanding of the game. As far as managers go, he’s extremely educational and well-researched. Once one goal is achieved, the next goal is already underway.
5/ Since leaving Bournemouth, EH has invested huge amounts of time into studying and understanding how several overseas, PL and Champ. managers work. He’s not shy in adopting different approaches and improving upon what he has previously implemented. This approach shows modesty.
6/ It’s also no secret that Howe was the single most impressive individual to be interviewed by the consortium. He was able to outline his vision for immediate improvement and is ready to be consumed entirely by the club in his efforts to turn around NUFC’s fortunes. He gets it.
7/ Shape-wise, EH prefers a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 which lend themselves towards patient build-up play without overcommitting and leaving his teams open to the counter. Similar to Fonseca, EH’s teams will utilise the fullbacks and wingers in tandem to stretch out opposition defences.
8/ A criticism which has been aimed at Howe is the fact that his defences have historically been leaky. Players are tasked with regaining possession as quick as possible. Naturally, with higher pressing comes spaces and gaps in the defence which can prove to be costly.
9/ Interestingly, this is a polar-opposite approach to what we’re used to seeing from NUFC of late. Presently, our defence is happy to sit and invite pressure in every game. Perhaps EH’s footballing philosophy and man-management can instil some confidence into our bereft players
10/ The important thing to take from EH’s approach to each game is that he is extremely fluid. He utilises every spare second of time to research and analyse the opposition in order to approach each game with the intention of winning and picking apart weaknesses in the opposition
11/ The numerous NUFC training days-off we’ve heard all about should become extinct. All players will be exposed to the ball a lot more than they have previously been. EH will aim to develop a players ‘natural instinct’ not to panic when in possession in stressful situations.
12/ It is with this mindset and approach that EH transformed Bournemouth from a club at the very bottom of the English football league to an established PL presence. With little investment, EH’s biggest accolade was - and is - his ability to coach football. Cook, Pugh etc are eg.
13/ When it comes to players, EH will very much analyse and utilise the strengths of individuals to help the team system. For example, he re-fashioned Kelly from an attacking fullback into a pacey, ball-playing CB. This gave the team more diversity and passing lanes.
14/ With this in mind, we could look to see individual improvements to the likes of Joelinton, Willock and Fraser who have been mismanaged and left to stagnate. EH definitely has the credentials to unearth their importance to this NUFC side.
15/ EH will resonate with NUFC fans through his biggest asset - giving 110% to the cause. His work ethic and commitment are second to none. We can expect EH to immerse himself fully into our club and buy into our values. This is a bare minimum expectation he sets upon himself.
16/ This is a manager who has earned his right to manage in the PL and wasn’t handed the opportunity on a plate based upon a sparkling playing career. He’s a first-in, last-out workaholic who has a passion for his job and that shows in his managerial win rate - just under 50%
17/ For EH to take the NUFC job you can assume assurances have been given over a long term project and a DOF who will buy into this philosophy. Importantly, he’s trusted by the board. Player recruitment, upgraded facilities and autonomy of the squad will most likely be assured.
18/ Crucially, for EH to choose to come and manage us after our worst ever PL start and lacking belief .. that shows bravery, self-confidence and determination. These traits are all we ask for from our NUFC squads and we should rest assured this will be transmitted to the players
19/ Our new owners have taken their time and have chosen Howe. NUFC fans have been through the ringer under Ashley and we want a club who tries. Regardless of how life under Howe starts, if he buys into my club and our fans then he will have my undivided support ⚫️⚪️ #nufc#Howe

1/ Rumours been gathering pace that there’s a potential restructuring of the deal to finally push through a takeover. Want to clarify these are rumours - but they’re cropping up through different sources now.
2/ It’s on good authority that MA is visiting Newcastle this week. He doesn’t just come up on a whim. We all know that the day to day running of the club is left to Lee Charley - including all things Bruce.
1/ From the outset, let’s make it clear that this is a POSITIVE for the takeover. The club have absorbed the NCSL case and can take that forward with a bottomless pit of funds and the best legal team money can buy. There’s no way this is a negative move!
2/ first and foremost - the fact that a FAN LED battle has teamed up with the football club clearly highlights there’s real public interest here. This goes beyond a takeover too and concerns itself with the conduct of the PL (fan-led reviews of PL are a very current topic💡...)
Another #NUFCTakeover Thread 🧵 In Light of Recent Events 🇸🇦⚽️ strap yourselves in for this one ...
1/ First thing’s first. @ADMusgrove and the @ChronicleNUFC have fought for SIX MONTHS to have this information made public. Let’s state the obvious .. somebody, somewhere was desperately fighting back for this not to come to light. We can only assume who that was 🙄
2/ Newcastle fans - through the NUST - have been made a mockery of by the PL. Richard Masters has bare-faced lied to this fanbase and the following extracts will prove this beyond unfounded claims.
1/ The High Court ruling on NUFCs arbitration objections is not a loss at all. To suggest the club are 2-0 down is just media sensationalism. In reality, the club and their legal team raised this objection knowing fine well it was a win-win situation and here’s why ...
2/ Option 1 was the objection is upheld and NUFC push through a change in arbitration chair to somebody less ‘bias’. Obvious win. HOWEVER, and this is an important point, it can be argued that not having the chair overturned was actually their biggest win.
3/ Knowing fine-well that as standard all judgements are publicly available (unless in the public interest to be kept confidential) NUFC and the legal team have forced scrutiny and pressure not only from the public but also from the judiciary and those involved in arbitration
