Manitoba announced 143 new cases of #COVID19 and 2 more deaths on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021.

Active cases: 1,457
Total caseload: 65,017
Recovered: 62,292
Deaths: 1,268
The seven-day average daily #COVID19 case count in Manitoba rises slightly to 158.
Manitoba #COVID19 patients in hospital: 143 (up 5)

In ICU: 28 (no change)

Total patients in ICU (COVID and non-COVID): 94 (96)
Five-day Manitoba #COVID19 test-positivity rate: 6.2 per cent (up 0.2 percentage points)

Tests completed Tuesday: 2,914
There are no new restrictions today.

Dr. Brent Roussin calls the numbers "disappointing" and says public health is monitoring the effect of the new cases on hospital capacity.
Regional breakdown of new Manitoba #COVID19 cases:

66 Southern
33 Winnipeg
29 Prairie Mountain
10 Interlake-Eastern
5 Northern
Manitoba now has the second-highest #COVID19 infection rate in Canada, among the provinces, after Saskatchewan.

Manitoba overtook B.C. and Alberta earlier this week.

MB should be No. 1 again within days.
Running average daily COVID cases per 100,000 people, by Manitoba health region, as of Tuesday:

Southern: 28.9
Northern: 23.1
Prairie Mountain: 11.3
Interlake-Eastern: 9.4
Winnipeg: 5.4
Dr. Reimer: Even though MB is recommending third doses, main priority remains getting people first and second doses.

The initial two doses provides the most protection, she says.
Roussin asked about poor mask-wearing adherence at #NHLJets games. This can be seen on TV. He is asked what province is doing to ensure True North enforces the rules.

He doesn't answer directly.

"It's difficult to assess adherence," he says. "We want full compliance to that."
Manitoba #COVID19 infections are up 30 per cent in one week.

If this continues, we will have a daily average case count of ...

205 on Nov. 17
265 on Nov. 24
Roussin chafes against the idea the province is waiting to enact new measures.

He says MB's fourth-wave curve is still rising, so we can't be compared to other provinces.
Roussin asked why not shut down schools in Southern Health, where transmission among kids is high.

He says schools are the last to close and first to open.

He says stay tuned for more measures.
Roussin: If we stay on this trajectory, the modelling suggests there will be a strain on the health-care system.

[Analysis: Another week of growth and we're getting more restrictions.]
Roussin: When you see high transmission somewhere, you will see high transmission everywhere.
The province refuses to release regional test-positivity rates on a daily basis.

Only once every two weeks.

So here's the latest from internal provincial data:

Southern: 15.6%
Prairie Mountain: 8.5%
Interlake-Eastern: 6.8%
Northern: 6.1%
Winnipeg: 3.4%

Belated Blizzard of ’86 thread …
I was 16 years old and I played in a band that played covers.

We had a gig at a house party. I was very excited, but my folks warned me not to go.

I lived in Garden City. The gig was in River Heights. They warned me I wouldn’t be able to get home.

I didn’t listen.
We set up in the house. It was empty. Whoever owned it had moved out.

There was like just enough room in the living room for our gear, the other band’s gear and some people.

It was going to be a crowded spot.

PC leadership candidate Stefanson accuses rival Glover of threatening to defeat or fire sitting MLAs | #mbpoli cbc.ca/news/canada/ma…
Stefanson's claim about Glover:

"I think if she ends up being our premier, how does she get along with all the caucus colleagues that she's told actually she's going to run someone against them in their nominations, that she's going to fire them?"
Stefanson can't say where or when this was said - or to whom.

"I think it was a statement that was made out there or something, though."
