I am concerned with what I see as the usurping, undermining, destruction of Democracy in Australia.
This has been caused by a convergence of partisan politics.
Let me explain in a long & boring monologue about the most critical element of Australian politics. #auspol
⬇
⬆Basically, in brief, Australian politics has yielded to the anti-democratic fascistic right that have taken over both major parties, the Liberals & Labor.
This story has its roots back in Second World War fascist Austria & features the Murdoch family at all stages. #auspol
⬇
⬆That sets my basis, now to the fundamentals of Australian politics, that which underlies the Constitution, the assumption of democracy & all that is necessary to support & nourish it. #auspol
⬇
⬆Australia is a Democracy in the Westminster (UK) System whereby multiple opposing political parties who all support the concepts of Democracy argue for their particular versions of society, agreeing to be constrained by the concept of Democracy. #auspol
⬇
⬆The Westminster System assumes at least two parties, both loyal to the concepts of Democracy, the one in government at any point constrained from excess by the other as opposition. Government is further constrained by an independent Press, the 4th Estate.
⬇
⬆This system handled the British Fascists under Oswald Moseley in the UK in the 30s because enough of the other parties either opposed it, or thought that the time was not yet opportune to support it.
⬇
⬆The current Australian situation was set up by fascists in Austria in the 30s & 40s under the name of Neoliberalism. This fascist ideology portrayed those successful at gaining wealth at the expense of whoever as the worthy, the elect, the elite, the very essence of fascism
⬇
⬆In Australia in 1943, a group of supporters of the Austrian Neoliberal fascists set up 2 political organisations, the Liberal Party of Australia & the Institute for Public Affairs.
These included Keith Murdoch.
In the UK they established the Institute for Economic Affairs.
⬇
⬆In the US the fascist Neoliberal concept appealed to the fascist capitalist oligarchs & the Loony Toons religious Right who saw it as justifying their existence.
These capitalists saw it gave their venal greed an element of supposed morality so they poured their $bn into it.
⬇
⬆Back to Australia & 1975.
The oppositional system existed until the coup of 1975, “The Dismissal”.
At that point or soon after, Labor gave up the ghost on democracy & opposition & joined the Liberals.
From 1983 when Labor were re-elected, they enacted Neoliberal policies.
⬇
⬆From 1983 Labor started privatisations & limited Union power by putting control in government hands. They introduced Neoliberalism into Parliament & opened the door to the full flood of the Liberal Party & the IPA (above) that Murdoch Snr & others had founded back in 1943.
⬇
⬆From that point on, we had the Liberal Party which has no interest in democracy, only corporate control & Labor who had gone over to their side & stopped opposing them.
So Australia had an unopposed fascistic Liberal Party, which means they had a fascist regime. #auspol
⬇
⬆The result is a Neoliberal Duopoly, a Neoliberal entity in the guise of two supposedly opposed parties, with the pretence of opposition supported by a choreography portrayed by the Murdoch & associated media.
⬇
⬆Labor pretends to oppose the Liberals, makes all the correct token noises, but actually quietly supports all their important fascist Police State legislation. Liberals blame Labor for everything & Murdoch pretends to support the Liberals whilst berating Labor.
⬇
⬆This is effectively One Party Rule, it doesn't matter to Murdoch & those that he & the other press barons represent, the global corporate would-be feudal oligarchs, which of the 2 parties they own wins, each party is committed to them.
⬇
⬆We go on happily voting for one or the other fondly imagining it is democracy.
You can give one of any number of names, Neoliberalism, Fascism, Oligarchy, Police State, Duopoly ...
The one thing it is not, however, is Democracy. #auspol

⬆As an addendum to the above, when there's been national barbarian thuggery previously there have been other nations with the power to suppress its spread.
This is no longer the case, there are no knights on white chargers out there to stop them.
Just a slow insidious spread.
@DoctorKarl Energy is neither created nor destroyed.
From Earth's point of view, any energy coming to us from the Sun stays in the Earth's system, land, sea, atmosphere as heat until it re-radiates into space.
The CO₂ in the atmosphere now trapping the heat will be here 1000 years.
@DoctorKarl Perhaps people might reasonably think the Earth will cool off like a cup of tea.
Heat goes into the ocean, so maybe the Earth cools off.
No
The system, cup of tea/Earth can only cool when its heat leaves the system.
The CO₂ is a thermos keeping the Earth warm for 1000 years.
@DoctorKarl The CO₂ already in the atmosphere will still be trapping new heat energy as long as it is in the atmosphere, until it is removed as vegetation or shells. That is where the 1000 years comes from.
Stop adding more CO₂ & things will equilibrate somewhat warmer than they are now.
Let's assume for the sake of argument that I am OCD & obsessing on imaginary fascism.
For the sake of my obsession I am defining neoliberalism, feeding the rich ruling elites & starving the poor, as fascism, also using Mussolini's definition of corporate state (& he defined it).
When did this obsession start?
I see nothing in the Whitlam years (at least until the coup) & certainly nothing from the government.
Fraser was surprising benign, so that takes us to 1983.
Jumping now to 2014ish the Coalition government is madly destroying everything I held dear.
For those who find it hard to accept Modern Monetary Theory’s claims that currency sovereign nations with fiat currencies are unconstrained in the amount of their currency that they can create, & that they do not fund their spending from tax or bonds or anywhere
A thread:
In my sovereign castle/home, say I set up a monetary system whereby I issue the kids with hand written notes of exchange for the chores they do, that they can exchange for treats or privileges from me.
They can trade these notes, let’s call them Relph$, amongst themselves.
To make sure that they need to use my currency I impose a tax upon them of so many Relph$ per year with actual penalties should they fail to pay them.
The taxes that I receive from them I securely destroy so the little buggers can’t double dip.
One way to consider a fiat currency is like me issuing Relph$ to my kids for chores so they can trade between themselves for treats.
If I (as Relph$ sovereign) need to spend more Relph$, I just write on more pieces of paper, I don't need to get them back from the kids first. #MMT
>>#MMT ( above)
Likewise as a Relph$ sovereign, I can tax the kids so many Relph$ with penalties for default to ensure that they comply with the system.
Those Relph$ I get from tax just go in a secure bin, I don't need them to spend/create new ones. I can spend as many as I like.
>>#MMT (above)
If I want a more modern system I don't even have to write on bits of paper, I could just put entries in a spreadsheet.
Then when I tax my Relph$ I just deduct numbers from the spreadsheet, exactly like happens with the A$ or the US$ or £Sterling etc.
