The only way to expand human needs based capitalism is to expose the people to stark need. By instituting a UBI or Universal Basic Income, they further put the screws to the people in preparation for exactly that. Expanded capitalism and removal of safety nets.

The goal of the neoliberal is to destroy the legacy of FDR and push us to Wall Street. The only way they can do that is with our own self mutilation by accepting neoliberal solutions for the public spaces.
I am despondent that our very lives will be forfeit by the knife well meaning ignoramuses in our midst will bury deep into our backs.
The answer is not a UBI but rather a well considered Federally Funded, Locally Administered Job Guarantee as a Right.
#MMT is accounting.
MMT is macroeconomics.
MMT represents legal relationships.
MMT provides a Lens.
Politics is about our values
MMT allows our values, not affordability to express the realm of possibilities.

MMT is apolitical, but the big reveal is your values can no longer be hidden by the gaslighting question "How are you gonna pay for it"...
No, MMT shines the spotlight on the naysayers because we can now see them without their masks... they are naked before us... showing their racism, classism and hate for all of us to see and judge who they are and clearly see their motive.
The private university system is like a continuation of country clubs & good Ole boys network. It's existence requires exclusivity & stealing public resources. It then pushes benefits, not related to education, as a means of luring the money while alienating the community.
We carry the student debt. They get the land tax free. They leverage eminent dormant to take lands and claim blight on communities to steal homes as well. Then gate it off and hire police to keep locals out
Consider your history of Columbia, Trinity and Yale.
I suggest some prileved individuals that have benefited from this arrangement lead the fight against student debt and reclaim those lands and tax the lands immediately.
When people are desperate & suicidal most people wish they would just shut up & suffer quietly. Then, post mortem, they will wax poetic about how important you were to them, post on social media, maybe even share the suicide hotline to take the moral veneer of a caring person.
...when in reality the time for all of that was when the person desperately needed to talk or just get a hug. Depression and desperation tell them to hide away and die. Reactions reinforce that... then the shame... then the dying.
The disease of self reliance and capitalism (in the current form of neoliberalism) makes so many feel like irresponsible failures and the debt trap locks them down and in and there is absolutely no escape save for the grave.
I remember when I first started working at C&P Telephone Company, many of the old timers told me "it's all a dead end. There is no opportunity..." they were wrong, but they were right to doubt that management had their best interests.

Management was paid to do a job as well. Management was "at will" & had to dance as well. This is a story of infighting in the 99%. Management is labor too. They come in, wage slave, insecurity, the whole enchilada. We have been conditioned to fight each other. Crabs in a barrel.
Rather than allow folks to succeed we attempt to tear people down and it keeps us all stuck because even the best ideas cannot save us if we live as crabs in a barrel.
