I was a non-believer.

Now I refer to the dots almost every day.

THREAD: How the Culture Index survey will 10x the productivity of your team at work πŸ‘‡
1/ The Culture Index (CI) Program trains the world's most influential executives and managers to be more effective leaders.

Here's how it works: Image
2/ The CI survey consists of only two prompts.

For each, you are presented with 174 different adjectives to select.

Prompts:
(1) Check the words you believe describe yourself.

(2) Check the words that describe how you must behave to succeed in your current position.
3/ The answers provided produce the following:

Two charts, each with:
β€’ 1 red line
β€’ 4 connected dots (A, B, C, D)
β€’ 2 additional dots (L, I)
β€’ 1 number (EU) Image
4/ Top Chart - Survey Traits:

This assesses who you are outside out of work.

i.e. Who you are when you are not modifying your behavior to your surroundings.

These traits are inherent behaviors established in us by the ages of 8-12 years old.
5/ PAUSE.

Yes, you read that correctly.

By the age of 12, your traits are ingrained in you.

This means if you demonstrate certain behaviors by age 12, that conduct will remain intact when you are 82.

"Changing traits is like making pigs fly, and chickens swim."
6/ Bottom Chart - Job Behaviors:

This is how you think you need to behave to succeed in your job.

Comparing your top vs. bottom chart helps you understand how well your ingrained behaviors align or clash with the position you're in.
7/ How to read the chart:

Your red line acts as the middle (mean) of a bell curve.

The top # scale represents standard deviations ("sd") from your red line.

Right of the line = high
Left of the line = low

1 sd = Somewhat high/low
2 sd = Very high/low
3 sd = Extremely high/low ImageImage
8/ *Important*

There are no right or wrong patterns in this survey.

High does not mean "good."

Low does not mean "bad."

There are positives and negatives to both sides of every trait.

The dots labeled A, B, C, & D are the backbone of this survey.

Let's break down each:
9/ A = AUTONOMY

High A traits:
β€’ Visionary
β€’ Outspoken
β€’ Headstrong
β€’ Take charge
β€’ Independent
β€’ Risk oriented
β€’ Inconsiderate
β€’ Enjoy confrontation

High A = team leaders

They need and enjoy projects involving problem-solving. Image
10/ Low A traits:
β€’ Follower
β€’ Diplomatic
β€’ Respectful
β€’ Cooperative
β€’ Accommodating
β€’ Hesitant with risk
β€’ Follow procedures

Low A = team players

Prefer tasks over projects.

They need a supportive environment with as little conflict as possible. Image
11/ B = SOCIAL-ABILITY

High B traits:
β€’ Shares
β€’ Talkative
β€’ Persuasive
β€’ Compromise
β€’ Prefer teams
β€’ Good-natured
β€’ Socially oriented
β€’ Can be superficial

Because High Bs are more intuitive and empathetic, they make decisions with their feelings and from others. Image
12/ Low B traits:
β€’ Factual
β€’ Skeptical
β€’ Analytical
β€’ Introspective
β€’ Inward thinking
β€’ Can work alone
β€’ Technically oriented
β€’ Communicate factually

Low Bs can come across as blunt.

They need facts to use their introspective way of thinking. Image
13/ C = PATIENCE

High C traits:
β€’ Patient
β€’ Laid Back
β€’ Methodical
β€’ Single focus
β€’ Slow to burn
β€’ Dislike pressure
β€’ Creature of habit

A very systematic person.

Prefers to finish one thing at a time. Does so in a methodical fashion.

Last-minute changes derail High Cs. Image
14/ Low C traits:
β€’ Antsy
β€’ Quick
β€’ Impatient
β€’ Deadlines
β€’ Short attention span
β€’ Handle variety of tasks
β€’ Work well with pressure
β€’ Natural sense of urgency

Low Cs need to move. Go. Go. Go.

Need variety in their day. Dislike long periods of focus. Image
15/ D = CONFORMITY

High D traits:
β€’ Rules
β€’ Accurate
β€’ Avoid risk
β€’ Sense of duty
β€’ Follow policies
β€’ Self-disciplined
β€’ Worry/thin skin

High Ds exhibit extremely loyal and ethical behavior.

Respect of rules and structure is a necessity in their lives. Image
16/ Low D traits:
β€’ Indifferent
β€’ Will delegate
β€’ Dislike details
β€’ Not easily inhibited
β€’ Rules = Suggestions
β€’ Overstep boundaries
β€’ Can be sloppy when disinterested

Will adhere to policy, but only if important to them.

Contribute "out-of-the-box" ideas easily. Image
17/ Your 4 dots combine to form 1 of 19 Typified Patterns (see image).

These patterns define:
(A) How you naturally arrive at decisions.
(B) How you communicate.
(C) The pace you prefer to work.
(D) Your conformity to detail orientation. Image
18/ Putting it all together:

The first time I heard about CI, I was very skeptical.

"I'm not going to base my management style on a bunch of dots."

Then my coworkers and I took the survey.

The report described everybody to perfection.
19/ In the training seminar, the teacher (who we had never met) taught us what the dots meant.

He re-enacted conversations between my boss and me just by looking at our dots.

I was blown away.

He knew our ingrained behaviors better than we did.
20/ Now, CI is ingrained in our team.

We understand what each of us needs to succeed.

For example:
β€’ High Bs need to talk problems out.
β€’ Low Bs need time to think.

Knowing who falls under each bucket allows us to reach solutions more efficiently.

Productivity is up 10x.
21/ If you made it this far, congrats! You're probably a High C (like me πŸ˜‰).

All the Low Cs are off, and have read 20 other tweets by now.

If you're 47 or younger, you're a time billionaire.

Are you using that time wisely?

THREAD: How to get more value out of your time.
1/ I heard about the time billionaire concept for the first time last week.

@APompliano announced that he would be returning all outside capital from Pomp Investments to his investors.

He cites the time billionaire concept as one of the main reasons why.
2/ Instead of making wealthy people even wealthier, he wants to:

β€’ Spend more time with family.
β€’ Continue educating the average citizen about personal finance, crypto, etc.

How awesome is that?

It sent me down a rabbit hole of trying to understand the value of time better.

The #1 secret to all great marketing campaigns is a bag of dirt.

Here's why πŸ‘‡:
1/ The "bag of dirt" has both a literal and figurative meaning.

But, most importantly, it just got every marketer out there to open this thread.

Let me explain...
2/ The literal bag of dirt comes from Gary Halbert's Boron Letters - a cult classic in the world of copywriting and direct response marketing.

The bag of dirt is one of Halbert's most famous marketing tactics (outlined in the letters).

Here's how it works:

Q4 is here. Time for a quick reality check.

Here are 20 questions you should ask yourself today that will make you rethink your life. πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡

#tweet100
1. Do I go to bed genuinely happy every night?

If not, aim to fix that in the moment. When I've had a rough day and am feeling defeated, I think of this Paul Walker quote. It makes me snap out of it every time.
2. Who are the 5 closest people I can't imagine life without?

When did you last spend time with them? Get something on the schedule today. Don't take that quality time for granted.

Know what the key to changing the world is?

Start the day by making your bed.

I learned this from one of my favorite speeches of all time by US Navy Admiral, William H. McRaven. Quick excerpt belowπŸ‘‡
"If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.

If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day.

It will give you a small sense of pride, and will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another.
By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.

Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right.
