N95 Manufacturer Capacity can absolutely be expanded to meet demand - this is a great point by Dr. Leonardi.

A short 🧵.
We have 330 million Americans.

How in the world could we meet that demand?

Easy.

One manufacturer alone could get us 3 N95's/ month to start

30 N95's month 5 to 6 months after that.
There are at least 19 companies that could (have) joined in that effort.

Why do I say could have? Because....
Looking at Biden's Mask Executive order, there is a fatal gap in it.

federalregister.gov/documents/2021…

They are merely encouraging masks - and removing obstacles as recommended by the CDC.

Whereas the CDC has been a damn catastrophe on masks.

Yes, Trump cut it's throat.
But we all knew that. Lord know the White House Chief of Staff, @WHCOS, knew that.

And so #BetterMasks4All died on the vine.

Much like Americans continue to die.

The truly ironic part? Biden had it right. He called for 100 days of masking.

But didn't give us the tools.
Didn't provide the mandate, which the 10th Amendment does give him the power to do so.

We have the capacity.

Just not the will.

I never want to hear about valveless respirators again.

H/T @PPEtoheros.

salon.com/2020/08/22/cdc…

Delta said they weren't accepting them.

And THEN the CDC came out against them.

Despite having 624 valved respirators recommended for HCW's on their website. ImageImage
@Delta @AssistDelta - please get your lobbyists to get the @CDCgov @CDCDirector to undo their RIDICULOUS valved respirator stance.

You broke this. You fix it. ImageImage
3M says, "Nope, valved respirators are not a problem." Image

Austria - 70.6% vaxxed.
956 cases / 100 K

US - 59% vaxxed
207 cases / 100K

Have FFP2 (their N95) respirators available for 59 cents in stores.
They are mandatory. No cloth masks. Poor and elderly got free ones.
google.com/amp/s/amp.fran…
Austria rules...basically FFP2 unless seated down like in a restaurant. And each region has a few more rules.

FFP2 are 94% vs our 95%.

This will be a very unpopular tweet, but my tough love has to go both ways.

What if the Democrats in charge, @benwakana46 @JeffreyZients @RonaldKlain have not shipped N100 masks to every man, woman, and child, because of a similar political calculation?

Think about it.
✅ Every single dead Republican is one less vote.
✅ Every single Republican with LongCoVid is effectively sidelined due to having to use every ounce of energy to live.
✅ Every single Republican with LongCoVid becomes an advocate for Public Health.
✅ A LOT of family members
of the dead Republicans will then be more apt to support public health measures.
✅ Democrats will be protecting themselves via masks, etc, anyway.

I simply see no other reason why a 6 billion dollar (so cheap ) intervention has not been deployed.

This will be a seminal work, cited thousands of times.

Why? Because it tells the history that will be attempted to be rewritten by governments after the pandemic is over.

They will do so because airborne diseases seem to be more of the commons - which lies on governments to
regulate and do something about. For example, the EPA.

@jljcolorado has a great quote on this.

The corollary being that droplet-based infection prevention is the responsibility of the individual.

Personally, I feel this is letting governments off too easy.

Both should be Image
the responsibility of the government as pandemics are inherently the disease of a society.

Like a tree falling in a forest...

If you get sick with no one else around, no one else gets sick.

A pandemic of one.

Hi Ian :)

AHS IPC doc for CoVid. Contact and Droplet Precautions.

Which is actually the CoVid IPC doc
who.int/publications/i…

In that, medical masks for HCWs plus 1 meter distancing recommended.

Airborne only in
the context of AGP's.

This is very common - countries refer to WHO's stance which is medical masks and 1 meter.

Also which was shown in the common person documents and video you listed out, and I RT'd.

And airborne was not listed anywhere in those documents.
Now, let's take a look at the WHO TB IPC document.

Particulate respirator, N95, recommended, because TB is listed as airborne.
