Forrest E. Craver III, age 77, passed away from COVID on November 18, 2021, at the Delta Hospital, in Delta #Colorado. He lived a storied life. #SoulsLostToCovid gettysburgtimes.com/obituaries/art…
He graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1961 and went on to receive his A.B. degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, and his law degree from the University of Detroit in Detroit.
A life-long organizer, advocate and fundraiser for civil rights, human rights and social justice causes, he served for 10 years with the Institute of Cultural Affairs in the U.S. and Europe, and was among the organizers of the First Earth Day in 1970.
Over his 50-year career, Craver served as adviser and strategist to a diverse number of organizations ranging from the Mankind Project, to Planned Parenthood, and the National Council of Negro Women, the Shambala Center, and Christian Children’s Fund.
Internationally, he played a key role in the anti-apartheid movement to free South Africa. Locally, he participated in organizing efforts to block initiatives to build a casino and racetrack near the Gettysburg National Military Park.
A captain in the 82nd Airborne Division in the ‘60s, Craver later became an active advocate and campaigner against the government’s use of Agent Orange, the defoliant and herbicide used in Vietnam and associated with various types of cancer.
Forrest is survived by his partner Prema Rose of Paonia, Colo.; his former wife, Susan Musser Erickson of Denver; his sons, Andrew and Joshua Craver, also of Denver; his brother, Roger M. Craver of Chilmark, Mass.; and six grandchildren.

"I ended up catching covid-19 around the Fourth of July," said McDaniel, who tested positive after going to Urgent Care.

McDaniel said he tried to beat covid at home, but his slight headaches got worse, and then he started to experience shortness of breath.
"When I first got to JRMC they had me on straight oxygen," said McDaniel. "Later on I was put on the ventilator for a while."

When he tested positive for Covid he showed no symptoms, and was quickly "back to his usual self".

But a few weeks later, he developed a lump on his neck (lymphadenopathy) & rashes on his body.

At the hospital, Cameron deteriorated quickly and his heart began to fail.

Medics placed him in an induced coma and he was flown from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

John Mari was a doctor of optometry and operated 20/20 Vision Express in Fargo.

Justo Mari, a native of the Philippines who was a physician and surgeon in North Dakota and Minnesota, retired nearly 30 years ago.
"Both John and wife Lynne came down with COVID, but her symptoms were worse than his, she said.

She, though, had been fully vaccinated against COVID. He had not, citing a lifelong fear of needles and doctors’ offices. Family members tried unsuccessfully to convince him"

During his time in the hospital, Joey received his MIS-C diagnosis and was treated with IV immune globulin, steroids & medications to increase his blood pressure. Doctors performed echocardiograms and constantly monitored Joey's heart rate.
"I was completely unaware of this MIS-C. I had no idea to even look for symptoms," Pellegrini said. "If I had any knowledge of this, I would have brought him in at the first signs of the stomach bug."
