WWX staying w LWJ in the jingshi, always wondering when he'll overstay his welcome, but instead LWJ comes home at the end of the day and his whole face softens when he sees WWX sitting at the table, grading the juniors' reports that LWJ hadn't had the time to mark

one night LWJ gets drunk (he drinks from WWX's cup by accident) and WWX tucks him into bed and lets himself be tender in the way that he never dares to be when they're both sober. He brushes LWJ's hair out of his face, runs his knuckle down LWJ's cheek. Glances at LWJ's mouth.

He can't help but lean down. He stops just short of kissing LWJ, their lips barely a finger's-width apart. WWX hovers there for a moment, then sighs and moves up to kiss LWJ's forehead instead. He puts out the candle and goes to sleep in his own bed, his heart aching.
