Even if Omicron doesn't turn out to be a big deal, we are already struggling, stretched sick and exhausted, also causing disruption and absence

2/ What does DfE decide to do on the day we have a special Omicron briefing?

Undermine local PH with a statement about school shows inviting parents in
3/ Ofsted are busy brutalising schools, showing little understanding, last week Covid was over apparently
4/ The pressure on attendance without focusing on the causes is leading some schools to make some really stupid decisions, like saying LFT positive students should come in
5/ And we are still being gaslight while cases rise as the government makes out its the mixing outside of school that causes the real issues, despite the observable holidays effect on case (this was the explanation for Freedom day timing afteral)
6/ @nadhimzahawi busy talking about masks on transport and shops, but not schools...
7/ Of course he was busy this week meeting with MPs who want to block masks in schools, with Bhattacharya's anti mask work on the table
8/ Schools are struggling to stay open, some are having to close year groups due to lack of staff/size of outbreak

UsForThem are busy targeting local authorities with harassment regarding this
9/ But don't worry, he might oppose measures but @halfon4harlowMP has a plan, he's going to pass a bill that demands schools stays open, in conjunction with UsForThem and backed by @ChildrensComm

Thoughts on the government response
Update: DfE guidence, masks for communal areas, however as classrooms aren't classed as communal areas !? And many LAs have already brought this in, it feels more like theatre than anything else
We also have isolation of Omicron contacts, however...
Only about a third of PCR capacity can pick up S-gene drop out and sequencing takes longer, so this is going to be problematic
Unless they change their definition the current DfE advice on close contacts isnt effective (wasn't with Delta)
If you're more than 2ms away, despite being maskless and unventilated then it doesn't count as a contact

Miriam Cates read out UsForThems petition against vaccination at Westminster Hall debate, quoted HART and is vice chair of an APPG set up by Great Barrington Declaration authors

Shes pro infection for children

She used the debate to repeatedly spout vaccine disinformation
Its disgraceful that Miriam Cates argued for halting vaccine roll out for students, quoting antivaxxer HART member Paton.

The APPG is funded by the opaquely funded Collateral Global whose members are heavily involved in Koch linked organisations

Many have mused about the motivations behind the pro-infection herd immunity lobby, many have suggested the attitude behind this has more than a whiff of a eugenics mentality, afteral we know letting it rip hits certain communities harder than others
2/ We can't know the motivations of all those pushing this, there will be a range, but let's focus on those at the top, the rich funders, academics, policy makers and media types from elite institutions.

How much does "covid wont effect me, its other people's problem" play?
3/ In the UK the pandemic started with herd immunity fans arguing that 250k dead elderly and vulnerable was a price worth paying for everyone else to have their "freedom"

The same ppl who argued for essentially a cull then argued for letting it rip but with "focused protection"

HART were given the right to reply on multiple occasions, including several articles I've been involved in

They keep making these threats of legal action to try and silence the truth, they never follow through.

This is tactics
Behind the scenes I've worked with journalists for a fair few large broadcasters and papers, not just in the UK

The issue is there is an asymmetric battle over the truth

These grifters get platformed by friendly media to spead disinformation, can come out with almost any crap
Yet try and challenge these individuals, their links, money made/raised and its incredible how many hoops must be jumped through, how many barriers are put in the way of those who just want to report the truth.

Editors are very wary
