If the Syrian chemical dossier remains at the very core of the #OPCW concerns, more than 9 years after Syria's accession to the Convention, it is precisely because chemical weapons have continued being used by one of its Member States.

Far from being exemplary in the past, #Syria's lack of cooperation since the adoption of C-25/DEC. In April 2021 is now blatant and shows a deliberate desire to obstruct the OPCW's work.

The measures resulting from the #CSP25 decision are not irreversible. The rights and privileges that were suspended can be recovered, upon the condition that #Syria would comply with its international obligations and cooperate resolutely and in good faith with the #OPCW.

The attack by means of a chemical nerve agent against Alexei #Navalny was shocking to all of us. It is first and foremost the responsibility of the Russian Federation to initiate an investigation provide credible explanations about this criminal act arisen on its territory.

🇫🇷 is determined to invest in the future of the #OPCW, as its expertise remains essential to prevent the re-emergence of the use of chemical weapons. We have donated nearly 2 million euros this year in voluntary contributions to support to the OPCW in various areas.
