Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said today all city schools will be closed from Friday until further orders due to air pollution. Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had criticized governments in Delhi & at the Centre over deteriorating air quality.

Talking of the decision, Rai said, “We had reopened schools considering the forecast that air quality would improve. However, the air pollution levels have increased again and we have decided to shut schools from Friday till further orders.” #DelhiPollution
This move came after the SC heard a plea over rising air pollutants in the city, four weeks straight. The top court underlined how children as young as three years old were attending school while adults worked from home.
It called for action against industrial and vehicular pollution and also criticized the Delhi administration over its "Red Light On, Gaadi Off" campaign to curb vehicular pollution. The SC said the idea is ineffective and merely a popular slogan.
Delhi has been named the world's most polluted capital city for the past several years. As of Thursday morning, its air quality worsened to the "severe" category with the Air Quality Index (AQI) touching 416 at 7 am.

The most common symptoms among Omicron patients are fatigue, body aches and pains, malaise, and headache, Dr. Coetzee told a media portal. However, unlike the Delta variant, Omicron does not lead to a loss of smell or taste, a severely blocked nose, or high fever, she said. Image
