Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of India, was against Rajendra Prasad's appointment as the first President of India. He lied to VallabhBhai in order to prevent him from taking presidential post.

He wrote a letter for Prasad stating both Nehru & Patel has decided to make C R as President of Bharat.
Dr Prasad felt humiliated, as he wasn't consulted before though being the head of Constituent Asembly
Dr Prasad, unable to bear injustice wrote a letter to Sardar Patel

seeking explanation, Nehru who hadn't anticipated this move was shocked and immediately wrote back a letter to Prasad asking him to apologise for blunder & seeking forgiveness from Patel.
Probably you are all aware that reconstruction of Somnath Temple was dream of Sardar Patel

for which Nehru opposed financial assistance from Treasury.
Sardar Patel collected funds from people outside government but before it's inauguration he passed away.
K M Munshi, who was in charge of construction wanted to invite Dr Rajendra Prasad for inauguration, but Nehru was

furious, he said, President must not go for opening ceremony, Dr Rajendra Prasad decided to go and inaugurate.
The fight between them didn't stop for this as well, Nehru wanted to bring Hindu Code Bill, but Rajendra Prasad wanted Uniform Civil Code, Nehru wanted Minorities to

enjoy the rights but Rajendra Prasad was adamant, he declared I won't sign the bill.
Nehru eventually passed it after winning the first general elections.
In the year 1957, Nehru wanted to replace Dr Rajendra Prasad but fortunately many Congressmen opposed it vehemently, after

seeing the dissent within the party Nehru changed his mind.
After retiring from public life in 1962 he went back to Bihar Vidyapeeth, a school he founded with his colleagues yrs ago.
He was married to Rajvanshi Devi, they had a son, she passed away in 1961.

when in jail wrote autobiography “Atmakatha”, but the wound inflicted by Nehru in 15 years was greater than that of British.

Incidentally, when Dr Rajendra Prasad died on February 28, 1963, in Patna, Nehru was the only public leader of stature who missed Rajen Babu's funeral.

In fact Jawaharlal apparently even asked the then-President Radhakrishnan not to go to Patna for Rajen Babu's funeral. Needless to say, Radhakrishnan ignored Jawaharlal's advice & attended the funeral in Patna.
