I just pulled up our Snapstream recording of the ESPN special on Bubba Wallace and I'm only five minutes in -- I already want to smash my monitor into a million pieces then throw it into the Potomac. #NASCAR
One word to describe Bubba Wallace that I'll admit I didn't accept until the last few months -- narcissistic
Here's what I think the problem is -- Bubba, like everyone (and I mean everyone -- even those who claim they don't), wants to be liked and enjoys the spotlight to a certain extend.
And, with that and the woke-ification of just about everything, he sees the aura of the fame.
Last point on this for now -- Bubba has repeatedly said he doesn't care what people think about him.
But based on how much he's talked about people not respecting him, how much racism he's said he's put up with, how people want him to fail, etc. -- he sure does seem to care!
I will say this about the Bubba Wallace special on ESPN -- the sections on Wendell Scott and Bubba's parents fighting/divorce/severed relations with him are powerful.
I've long known this, but Wendell Scott went through while having the success he did was incredible. #NASCAR
Okay, now this part lamenting the fallout from when it was concluded Bubba Wallace wasn't the victim of a hate crime and it wasn't a noose but a garage pull.
His sister says the FBI's conclusion is "bulls***," the doc equates those denouncing him as racist kooks, and on and on.
Bubba Wallace maintains it was a noose left for him: "Look at the picture. What's it look like to you? Is that a noose...or is that just another fisherman's knot?....No. That took time to do."
He adds fans booing him are "sad," lack "facts," & that his life is better than theirs
Bubba's ending: "We were all brought here for a purpose and it's not to hate each other b/c of the way you look....I don't know if my purpose is to drive race cars...That's why you're tested every day to figure out what your purposes in life. Hating somebody? It's taught."

DOOCY TIME: "Why is it that there are still Americans stranded in Afghanistan?"
Psaki says that while "if there are "Americans who are in Afghanistan wanted to leave, whether was three weeks for now...back in August, we would help them," adding they've gotten 479 Americans out.
Doocy: "479 left behind is a lot higher than the 100 to 200 that President Biden was talking about at the end of August....He said that he thought that there were...100 to 200 with some intention to leave. So, how does a number--how'd you guys get the numbers?"
Doocy: "[T]here are now at least about a dozen who want to leave right now? Is this something that [Biden] works on every day?"
Psaki mocks the question by stating the U.S. doesn't "put a tracker on" people overseas & blames Americans for staying there b/c some...want to stay?
.@AliBradleyTV on the case of a mother and daughter dying in a TX car crash involving an illegal immigrant smuggler: "I don't think a lot of people take into account what is happening in these communities...and a lot...kind of dismiss it" as something that couldn't happen to them
.@LelandVittert: "Is this idea of Remain in Mexico changing what's happening on the border at all?"
@AliBradleyTV: "Not at all...In the Del Rio sector alone, they can only send back 30 people...It's certainly not helping...people living in those communities feel any safer."
.@AliBradleyTV: "Governor Greg Abbott has expanded Operation Lone Star, so they are actually arresting for criminal trespass...Over the last 3 days they arrested 11,000 people+ for criminal trespassing...[T]hat doesn't mean that those people living in those areas feel fully safe"
DOOCY TIME: Biden says BBB won't "add a penny to the deficit. The CBO has this new score where they assume that social programs are going to be made permanent...It would add almost $3 trillion, so does that mean...[he] will commit that [they're] not going to be made permanent?"
Doocy: Is Vice President Harris still in charge of addressing the root causes from migration from El Salvador, Honduras, & Guatemala?
Psaki: She is & I just announced a commitment...this afternoon.
Doocy: So, why hasn't she spoken to the president of Guatemala since June?
Doocy: "Do you think it's possible that big cities are dealing with these smash and grab robberies, an increase in criminal activity b/c some prosecutors are too soft on crime?"
Psaki says she "won't attribute the reasoning from here," but then reiterates it's tied to Covid.
THREAD: I tallied the #tornado coverage on the Saturday PM newscasts of ABC, CBS, and NBC as aired in the D.C. TV market (which, for this, I included teases). @ABCWorldNews Tonight w/@WhitJohnson was 22:04 vs. 30:00 due to #MLSCup
ABC coverage: 14:24
Due to the #ArmyNavyGame and local affiliate WUSA running commercials for a minute or two instead of the newscast, the 'CBS Weekend News' (helmed by @edokeefe) in total was only 10:42.
DOOCY TIME: "A handful of key aides have announced either that they are leaving the Vice President's office or are reportedly going to be...soon. Is the Vice President not satisfied with the staffing that she has...or do people just not want to work for her anymore?"
Doocy: "So, this is not a case of bad headlines about the Vice President and a decision being made to shake up the staff to fix an image issue?"
Psaki says Symone Sanders "is whip smart and "will do plenty of interesting things in the world" in her future.
Doocy: "Does [Harris] think that staff are to blame for her not making any kind of meaningful progress on the big things in portfolio, like passing voting rights or addressing the root causes of migration?"
Psaki: "I know the Vice President is grateful to all the staff[.]"
