One Piece Theory

Vegapunk and Blackbeard

#ONEPIECE #Theory Image
This is actually one of my oldest theories, and in fact the theory that I started my channel on.

This goes way back to before I even knew how to do threads properly.

I've changed some aspects of it, but let's get into it Image
Let's begin with one of the things we're all aware of, Blackbeard's 'abnormality', and attempt to explain it.

As Marco said at Marineford, it seems to be this, 'abnormality', that allows him to eat more than one Devil Fruit without dying. Image
How is this possible and what kind of abnormality could it be? One of the clues that many people have picked up on, is that Blackbeard never sleeps. Something Buggy discusses with Shanks, creating a call back to Luffy discussing a similar topic with Sanji, at Drum Island ImageImageImage
This idea, that people from snowy countries in particular never sleep, has raised the likelihood that Blackbeard is from a winter island. @abhidrama has a good theory that he's from Drum Kingdom, but let me express an alternative idea.

Blackbeard is from Karakuri, the same island as Vegapunk. It was here that he was born alongside two sisters. This detail will be important later.

Blackbeard initially lead a happy life but eventually he was orphaned, how? And what happened to his sisters? Image
This may well connect back to the highly disputed dialogue, "It's not 'he', it's 'they'." From Jaya. This line has been argued by many to signify that Blackbeard has 3 distinct personalities and that this is the significance of his jolly roger. Image
I don't believe in the theory of 3 distinct personalities, or really in the theory of 3 souls. I think that Blackbeard has spliced genetic code of 3 people.

@ThePhantomStra5 has done a good theory on the science in One Piece and how multiple genetic mods shouldn't be possible
How could this happen? You've probably guessed by now. Blackbeard was a test subject. But to what end?

Most likely, to prove the Devil Fruit Transfer Theory, as mentioned by CP9. "Grandline scientists already proved Devil Fruit transfer theory." Image
Interestingly, in this same conversation, they mention that eating more than one fruit should destroy a person, saying, "A greedy idiot will destroy himself."

This perhaps, hints at the limitations of Blackbeard's 'abnormality' Image
This experiment would connect back to his sisters and give us an explanation for what happened to them. They died in this experiment.

The experiment as a success but at the cost of the lives of children. Image
This perhaps, is why Vegapunk is now opposed to experimenting on children, he carries this guilt with him.

As for Blackbeard, this would be how he became orphaned. Having become a Frankenstein, Vegapunk abandoned him. ImageImage
Interestingly, when we see the earliest instance of Blackbeard appearing in the story, which was him joining Whitebeard, he goes by the name 'Marshal D. Teach'. Marshal is potentially, actually his mother's maiden name. Not his father's family name. Image
This in turn, would serve to explain why Blackbeard never sleeps or is not able to. His genetic makeup is corrupted to the point where remaining away is probably necessary for the genetic code to not fall apart. Spliced DNA being held together by constant brain activity Image
This proof of Devil Fruit Transfer Theory, was most likely the same event as in which Vegapunk and MADS made the discovery of Lineage Factors. The genetic code known to use as DNA. The practical application of which, allowed for proof of the DFT Theory. Image
This timeline would sync with Vegapunk's arrest and MADS being taken in to the World Government. Image
Devil Fruits are known to respawn after the user dies, this is known a 'Devil Fruit Transfer' however, can this transfer be controlled and directed?

We've seen that Blackbeard is capable of this, but how? Image
This is one of the reasons why the Yami is so important, as it allows for the neutralisation of Devil Fruit abilities. This is a factor in being able to steal fruits. Image
The second factor, is the importance of 'Vessels', as we learn from Ceaser, Devil Fruit respawn can be controlled by using vessels of fruits for it to latch on to. Presumably, it must be the same kind of fruit as the one the Devil Fruit originates from Image
The final stage in this ability to control fruit transfer, is the previously mentioned 'Abnormality'. Devil Fruit consumption is known to alter the eaters' Lineage Factors, therefore it should only be possible to eat one. However, if Blackbeard has spliced DNA it becomes possible Image
To conclude: Blackbeard was born on Karakuri Island, home of Vegapunk

He and his sisters were experimented on & his sisters died. Blackbeard became Frankenstein & was abandoned.

He seems to have left behind his real surname & took on his mother's maiden name.
The significance of his true surname would reveal who his father is.

Blackbeard is not only Vegapunk's experiment & the reason for the discovery of Lineage Factors, as well as proof of Devil Fruit Transfer Theory.

Blackbeard is the biological son of Vegapunk! Image

Vegapunk's Next Experiment -

Big Mom & The Artificial Giants

#ONEPIECE #Theory
We first learned of the World Government's attemps to make artificial giants in Punk Hazard.

It was there that Ceaser was illegally and secretly continuing the research that he had begun with Vegapunk.
Ceaser had been kicked off the original team by Vegapunk because of his unethical methods in using the chemical HS2. As a retaliation, Ceaser caused the explosion that destroyed the original lab. Although Ceaser blamed Vegapunk for it.

The Certain Pirate

#ONEPIECE #Theory
Ever since Shanks surprised us all by appearing in front of the Gorosei, we have wondered at his motives for doing so. Some even believe now that Shanks is evil.

The biggest potential clue we have, is Shanks' mention of a, 'certain pirate'.

But who could this be?
There are quite a few possibilities as to who this 'certain pirate' could be, so the best way to determine who it most likely is, is to consider all of the potential candidates.

So, let's start with the seemingly most obvious candidate -

A quick thread on how Ryou affects the ability we've defined as 'Conqueror's Coating.'

#ONEPIECE #Analysis
To begin, it must be understood that Ryou is just the Wano name for Haki. It means 'Flowing Cherry Blossom."
As Ryou in it's most basic form, is just an extension of Armament Haki concepts, it's explained in almost exactly the same way as the Breathe of All Things was pre time skip. Essentially it is an advancement of that principle.

Can't You See The Light?
The best way to start this thread is by taking a look at a take from @ThePhantomStra5 regarding the Navy's 'Dark Justice'. This will give us the foundation on which the rest of the theory is based.
Many will know already, that 'Dark Justice' is the motto of Rob Lucci.

This is because Lucci is the perfect embodiment of perfect obedience to the status quo.

Usopp's Destiny

#ONEPIECE #Theory
Many may know already that Usopp's character is a combination of two inspirations. Aesop, the Greek Fabulist & Pinocchio, the enchanted boy puppet who's nose grows when he lies.
Usopp is characterised as someone who tells tall tales, fantastical stories & often obvious lies. In his introduction, we get a reference to the story of The Boy who Cried Wolf, immediately establishing Usopp's connection with lies and fairy tales.

The Fate of Vivi

#ONEPIECE #Theory
To get the best possible insight into what the fate of Vivi might be, it's best to start by looking back at what happened before. So let's begin with a quick narrative recap.
Vivi was first introduced to as in chapter 102, as 'Mysterious woman, Miss Wednesday'

Of course we know that she later turned out to be a princess.

She had infiltrated Baroque Works in attempt to undermine them.
