I’m thankful for small miracles. It’s only a week longer, but there was no struggle to have this approved. There was no argument to get tests and face masks.
For once, UCP has acted responsibly.
I still don’t trust them. But I’m pleased with this decision.
Honestly it’s the only decision I can remember the past 2.5 years by Kenney and UCP that was made in the best interests of the children.
It’s that significant of a 180 degree turn around.
But I will celebrate the small victories.
And I’ll stop worrying excessively about my son going to school on Tuesday. He isn’t. And we can all assess with better data a week from now.

It’s difficult to let go of such a treasured human being. Kind, beautiful, loving, pleasant and often self effacing. On the surface she seemed like the typical 50’s housewife. All smiles. No problems. Everything was pleasant.
But she was a trailblazer. She just didn’t make it obvious. She was the first woman of television. Brought black artists on her own tv talk show in the 1950’s and got cancelled for it. Betty White was no pushover. She was a formidable woman.
I watched TRMS on MSNBC tonight. Bernie Sanders was interviewed on his opinion about Manchin.
I’m getting extremely frustrated with progressives and their unrealistic expectations in Canada and the US. And wishy washy Liberals are seriously pissing me off as well.
I understand peaceniks’ inability to use force to achieve a goal. I too have limitations due to PTSD.
That is self awareness. Regardless of personal ambitions, leaders require awareness of their personal limitations.
Sometimes others are more suited to completing a task.
Fighting authoritarianism and those who are currently using it to dismantle democracy is one of those tasks better suited to others.
Force is required to push back on authoritarians. There are no other negotiating tactics or verbal demands that will change the power dynamics.
My grandmother used to buy National Enquirer for entertainment news, not the crazy alien babies stories. I swear those rags were preparing people for insane conspiracy theories. I never thought people would take them seriously.
Stretched finances shouldn’t mean sub quality masks.
The perfect gift is one that will protect lives. A box or two of N95 masks. Or more if you can afford it.
If our govt were caring they might subsidize N95 masks for those who qualify for carbon levy rebates.
Buying in bulk reduces the cost per mask.
But conservative premiers don’t really care about public health. They want people to get infected to develop herd immunity. And they are prepared to lose people to death or long term illness and focus on the strongest who survive.
We can’t do much during a covid wave. But making life a tiny bit easier for those bearing the burden of caring for patients who are severely ill is well worth some praise.
Better yet, we should join her in assisting with snow removal for those who have extra stress either due to illness or caring for someone who is sick.
Neighbours and family can shovel driveways and walkways for the less abled and essential workers.
We can send care packages to hospitals and places where essential workers are performing their work. We can leave a coffee gift card for sanitation workers. A thank you card with gift cards for grocery workers. Purchase an extra food bank package when we shop for groceries.
People have no concept of true deprivation and exclusion.
We live in one of the wealthiest nations. We have access to world class healthcare and our country is not besot by war and poverty. We have access to vaccine guaranteeing us first in line for a third dose as booster.
While groceries have become a bit more expensive, there are limited shortages. We live in a northern climate yet still have access to fresh produce and products from across the globe.
Most of us have access to personal transportation, but public transport is available.
