It’s difficult to let go of such a treasured human being. Kind, beautiful, loving, pleasant and often self effacing. On the surface she seemed like the typical 50’s housewife. All smiles. No problems. Everything was pleasant.
But she was a trailblazer. She just didn’t make it obvious. She was the first woman of television. Brought black artists on her own tv talk show in the 1950’s and got cancelled for it. Betty White was no pushover. She was a formidable woman.
She dominated television throughout her career. She could swear better than Ryan Reynolds. Was wittier than Robin Williams. Easy going and kind, but an inner strength like no other.
She was a woman to be admired.
That era is over sadly. She was the last of her kind. Women whose power came from within when there were no human rights or freedoms guaranteed.
An inner strength I wish I possessed. But alas, I’m not made of the same grit and string will Betty White was.
She was a wonder and a treasure, working well into her 90’s. Many comment on her work ethic. But Betty White enjoyed people so much, it could hardly be called work. It was fun and exciting.
We lost a good soul. A great soul. And she passed with little notice.
She was old. 99 to be exact. Almost 100.
What I don’t see anyone asking was what the cause of her death was. Was it omicron Covid?
There is some mention of declining health, but she was preparing for a big celebration of her 100th birthday in a few weeks. Sending out Twitter notice a few days before her death. Who does that if they are unwell?
I believe Betty White may have died from omicron Covid. At 99 years, she was at very high risk of death if she contracted the virus.
There was no cause of death released. But there was also a huge build up to her birthday, mere days after NYE.
That wouldn’t have occurred if she were very frail or in failing health. It would have put her life in danger from the stress to perform.
So it was sudden and unexpected. There iss a high likelihood it was natural causes.
But a woman of her age is also very likely to die after severe complications of Covid set in.
Omicron is far more serious than public health officials are letting on.
I’ve read some of the CDC research and transmission is expected to be astronomical by end of January.
Deaths from omicron are expected to surge by January 15, 2022. That’s two weeks from now.
The reduction of quarantine from 10-5 days doesn’t make sense. Huge numbers of people are expected to die. The US predicts over 1M dead by end of January (~150K more from current totals).
Has the Great Barrington strategy been adopted to get the carnage over and done with sooner?
I think it may have been. If healthcare workers are gone for 10 days or more, there won’t be enough medical treatment for the numbers of infected people.
Medical professionals are being told to put their own health at risk to continue caring for severely ill patients. Many of whom have no protection or waning immunity without the booster.
Omicron is so contagious it’s expected to spread very quickly. Especially because of Xmas.
I remember watching a video of an Australian woman sitting outside a retail store that an unmasked Covid carrier walked past on his way into the store. She caught Covid. And people were scared into wearing their masks. At the time, masks were uncommon in Australia.
Omicron is so contagious that even if carrier and the uninflected are wearing masks there is a high likelihood that the disease will be transmitted just by walking past one another. It’s that contagious and very little airborne particles are required to contract it.
The CDC and apparently every government responsible for imposing mandates has decided to let the virus spread and deal with the consequences rather than shut down the economy. Lives will be lost. The most vulnerable mortality rates will be high.
Betty White was high risk.
Was she merely a CDC statistic and made an expendable human being due to her age and high vulnerability.
I don’t know. But the longer the reason for her death is withheld, the more suspect I become.
Yes we lost a good soul. But why? What happened that she passed so suddenly while planning large celebrations? Had she died of natural causes, wouldn’t that be known by now? I think it would. I guess we will find out on Tuesday January 4, 2022. Considering it’s a holiday weekend.

I’m thankful for small miracles. It’s only a week longer, but there was no struggle to have this approved. There was no argument to get tests and face masks.
For once, UCP has acted responsibly.
I still don’t trust them. But I’m pleased with this decision.
Honestly it’s the only decision I can remember the past 2.5 years by Kenney and UCP that was made in the best interests of the children.
It’s that significant of a 180 degree turn around.
I watched TRMS on MSNBC tonight. Bernie Sanders was interviewed on his opinion about Manchin.
I’m getting extremely frustrated with progressives and their unrealistic expectations in Canada and the US. And wishy washy Liberals are seriously pissing me off as well.
I understand peaceniks’ inability to use force to achieve a goal. I too have limitations due to PTSD.
That is self awareness. Regardless of personal ambitions, leaders require awareness of their personal limitations.
Sometimes others are more suited to completing a task.
Fighting authoritarianism and those who are currently using it to dismantle democracy is one of those tasks better suited to others.
Force is required to push back on authoritarians. There are no other negotiating tactics or verbal demands that will change the power dynamics.
My grandmother used to buy National Enquirer for entertainment news, not the crazy alien babies stories. I swear those rags were preparing people for insane conspiracy theories. I never thought people would take them seriously.
Stretched finances shouldn’t mean sub quality masks.
The perfect gift is one that will protect lives. A box or two of N95 masks. Or more if you can afford it.
If our govt were caring they might subsidize N95 masks for those who qualify for carbon levy rebates.
Buying in bulk reduces the cost per mask.
But conservative premiers don’t really care about public health. They want people to get infected to develop herd immunity. And they are prepared to lose people to death or long term illness and focus on the strongest who survive.
We can’t do much during a covid wave. But making life a tiny bit easier for those bearing the burden of caring for patients who are severely ill is well worth some praise.
Better yet, we should join her in assisting with snow removal for those who have extra stress either due to illness or caring for someone who is sick.
Neighbours and family can shovel driveways and walkways for the less abled and essential workers.
We can send care packages to hospitals and places where essential workers are performing their work. We can leave a coffee gift card for sanitation workers. A thank you card with gift cards for grocery workers. Purchase an extra food bank package when we shop for groceries.
People have no concept of true deprivation and exclusion.
We live in one of the wealthiest nations. We have access to world class healthcare and our country is not besot by war and poverty. We have access to vaccine guaranteeing us first in line for a third dose as booster.
While groceries have become a bit more expensive, there are limited shortages. We live in a northern climate yet still have access to fresh produce and products from across the globe.
Most of us have access to personal transportation, but public transport is available.
