In principle Rome asserted it was the only catholic church, hence the rest were schismatic (not fully catholic) or outright heretics (anti christians).
The term Catholic is from ancient Greek Katholikos, meaning Without Blemish.

Once the Vatican assumed the term Catholic as Identity, not Theology, in 1870 Vatican I council, then all other main stream christian denominations became catholic, hence concept of heresy died.

This has translated into worsening of managerial capacities of western governments which are quite busy in Heretic and Schismatic Battles, not governing.

The situation is poised to get worse in 2022 when the western governments will spend considerable amount of time and resources fighting against heresies rather than managing supply chains which are breaking down.
